Durmitor-Vrazje Lake and Ski resort Savin Kuk winter 2022 in Montenegro

The mountain lake, located at an altitude of 1411 m, is included in the Durmitor National Park. According to an old legend, the lake got such a devilish name. A long time ago, a red-winged horse lived in the lake, and fire broke out from its nostrils. Every night he came out of the lake and fertilized the mares that grazed on the shore of the lake, and after that he beat them so that his foals would not give birth. However, once a mare gave birth to the winged foal Jabučila, on which the legendary Duke Momčilo flew. Location: the lake is located in the municipality of Žabljak in the south-eastern part of the Durmitor National Park near the village Novakovići and not far from Riblje Lake. Devil's Lake is rich in fish and very popular among Montenegrin fishermen. The pond is flowing and flows in the shape of a small stream on the south side. Devil's Lake is located at 1411 m above sea level in the middle of a small flat valley. The average depth is 4 m, the maximum about 11 m. The lake is very rich in fish, especially trout. A large number of anglers come here in the season when fishing is allowed to try their luck. If you are not afraid of old legends, then the lake is also suitable for swimming, but you must be careful of reeds that grow along the shore because they can cause discomfort while you are in the water. In addition, there are no natural shelters from the sun on the shore, so if you want to rest on the lake for a long time, you better consider a tent.
