Second day of my England journey: Starting at Eleanor Cross, Geddington, which is one of originally 12 crosses that King Edward I had erected to commemorate the nights he spend on the funeral procession with the body of his beloved wife.
Lyddington Bede House was a pleasant surprise - I hadn't expected much: It's a sort of alms house or house for the elderly that was formerly a bishop's palace. Right next to it is St. Andrew's church - a perfect place if you're too early for visiting the house...
Kirby Hall is a mighty half ruined manor house - building began around 1570.
Apethorpe Palace is about a century older and closed for the season.
The lady who told me this suggested Fotheringhay so I took a look at the rather interesting medieval parish church in the place Mary Queen of Scots was imprisoned.
Longthorpe Tower was closed as well and in a tight area so I didn't do more than send the drone straight up.
Chichele College was supposed to be closed but the nice folk setting up their art exhibition let me take a look inside: It's a chantry college: rich people paying priests to pray for their soul.
Bushmead Priory was closed again and hard to reach even by drone.
De Grey Mausoleum was closed as well - I had hoped that at least the church might be open.
Wrest Park from 1840 though was open and impressive: Huge grounds with a big house and several smaller ones.
Last stop that days was one of my favorites: Houghton House from 1615, deserted and well suited for fpv - and then the golden sun appeared...
