The Danube loading and cableway station, also known as the coal loader, was a separate department of the transport and distribution plant of the Dorog Coal Mines. The construction began operating in 1927 and although the history of building a specially designed, looking structure would certainly be the most interesting chapter in this history, unfortunately we have not found any descriptions of the creation of a monster anchored to the bottom of the river. It is so likely that the foundation, which represents the first phase of construction, was carried out at the lowest possible water level, the current owner, Jenő Lévay, a representative of the Váltótér Foundation, believes that the foundations are 5 meters below the riverbed. The function of the structure was to transfer the coal dust extracted by the Dorog coal mines to river barges. The steel structure resting on the concrete foundations was connected to the classification unit of the coal mine by more than 5.7 km of cableway, on this track the coal-laden mica arrived on the banks of the Danube. The coal loaded on the ships was mainly transported to the Csepel power plant and to the industrial facilities in the capital. When the coal loader was still functioning, the mica, full of coal dust, was received in a nearly two-hundred-square-foot room on two huge legs in the water, several storeys high. The metal wagons arriving on the ropeway were rotated off the system by a crew of three to four, and then their contents were poured on a so-called bunker slide, i.e. a slide. The snipers joined the barges, so the coal dust got on the ships. The empty mica was put back by the workers on the cable car, which continued on to Dorog, the mine. The coal loader also had a buffer, i.e. a storage, in which the amount of material that was good for the time when the loaded barge was replaced by the empty one was loaded. The building, located in a unique place and in the water with special features, was approached by a boat, who after the mooring climbed an iron ladder to the high room. The tasks were performed in two shifts, but it is likely that the station was also capable of continuous operation. The Danube loading capacity reached a thousand tons per day, this capacity was maintained until 1963, when transport was stopped and the equipment of the cableway and the structure was dismantled. The building, which is an industrial monument, has been empty since 1970, the structure on two huge pedestals now consists only of a metal frame and a wall covering, even the floor beams of the house part have been taken away. According to the calculations of the foundation that owns the building, the preservation of the coal loader would cost 50-60 million forints.
