Hadleigh Castle Ruins FPV

The ruins are located in the English county of Essex, overlooking the Thames Estuary. It was built by the 1st Earl of Kent in the 13th Century, then dismantled for the value of its stone in the late 1500’s. It is now owned by English Heritage and is listed as a a Grade 1 building.

Built after 1215 during the reign of Henry III by Hubert de Burgh, the castle was surrounded by parkland and had an important economic and defensive role.
