The water for the waterfall comes from the underground river, the Dard, which emerges from the ground after a tumultuous journey through the heart of the caves.The water that springs here is pure and clear, and emerges into a green and luminous environment, creating sumptuous colors.

Billaude waterfallLet's set the scene: in the heart of a wooded site surrounded by ledges, the Lemme river plunges through a narrow fissure into a vast rocky amphitheater, in two successive falls.

The Billaude waterfall, also called “Saut Claude-Roy”, is one of the most grandiose sites in the Jura. With its two falls, it totals 28 meters in height, the equivalent of a ten-story building! Its waters then join those of the Saine (not to be confused with the Seine!), a few kilometers further.

Cascades du Hérisson – L’Eventail – Ménétrux-en-Joux – JuraAccess map to the Cascades de L’EventailFrom Doucier, drive 8 km on the RD 326 towards the Cascades du Hérisson. This site is well marked and signposted.There is parking available (paid during the summer period).The Hérisson waterfalls are a succession of several waterfalls, the first being the Eventail. The total duration of the route is 3 hours over 3.7 km for the entire Cascades du Hérisson circuit.L’Éventail is the first waterfall of the hike, the access time for this waterfall is 10 minutes from the parking lot.The next waterfall is the Grand Saut.CommentImpressive in size and flow, this Éventail waterfall drops more than 65 meters! You have the possibility via hiking to see it from the bottom (below) but also from the waterfall at the top and even from a belvedere located higher up.Photo tipsL’Éventail is probably the best known and therefore the most photographed waterfall of the Hérisson waterfalls. Interesting viewpoints are located downstream of the waterfall when the river flows gently, but also at the edge of the waterfall, at the level of the safety barrier.Just before the waterfall, on the right on the other side of the bank, you will see a first small waterfall which does not flow much, but which can give beautiful film effects with a telephoto lens and a tripod.

Very accessible, this site is perfect for families and all nature lovers.

ACCESS TO THE CASCADES SITE: Due to the overcrowding of the Tufs waterfall site, parking in the town is prohibited for non-residents, except professional vehicles. A grass car park is available 800 meters before entering the village (on your left).
