One of the dozen largest cities of France, and the center of its fourth-largest urban agglomeration, Lille is the capital of the Hauts-de-France region that covers the country's northern "triangle". Part of the historical Belgian-French region of Flanders, Lille became an important textile manufacturing center during the Middle Ages, and by the end of the 19th century it became France's most industrialized city.

I didn't know much about Lille until I booked a trip to see Brussels in Belgium. With how close Lille was to Belgium by bus, I figured I would take a day trip to that part of France. As someone who has really only been to Paris before, I didn't have many expectations for Lille. I found the people here to be extremely warm and friendly! The city itself is very walkable with an abundance of green spaces. The weather was pretty great too, perfect for drone flying. Some of my favorite spots were the Citadelle de Lille, the Grand Palace, the Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church, the park of Jardin Vauban, Saint Maurice Catholic Church, and Bloom Cafe. This last place is a must see cozy spot!
