"Pure" comes as the first single off of American singer-songwriter Mendeleyev's debut album, Juxtapositions. In every way, the LA-based Mendeleyev's musical voice is an attempt to honestly express his core beliefs of peace, unity, and self actualization. In "Pure," we find this latter belief at the forefront of the song's consciousness. The album-opening track sets the tone for Lev's album-long search for personal truth embodied by the songs to follow. Says Mendeleyev, "'Pure' is an ode to the self. It's a song about discovering what I need in my life and what I do not. It's about manifestation, simplifying everything, returning to clarity, distilling the essence of being." The video (directed by Michael Karman) features stunning drone footage of the southern California landscape that Lev calls home. Producer Mitchell Haeuszer describes Juxtapositions as "a concept piece that explores the familiar feelings [...] when leaving a loving relationship." As part of re-discovery and prioritization of the self, Mendeleyev proclaims "Don't need to feel so many feelings anymore/just need some thing real, something pure."
