The Monte Tamaro lies in the triangle between Lugano, Bellinzona and Locarno. It is famous for the Santa Maria degli Angeli church designed by Mario Botta and the scenic ridge walk from Monte Lema.

Leaving from Rivera, the cable car climbs to Alpe Foppa at 1,530 metres. The telecommunications mast is a good 300 metres higher, while the actual Tamaro summit is 1,962 metres above sea level. On a clear day you can see the Monte Rosa Massif from the summit and on the Lema hike. There are hiking routes in all directions, and mountain bikers love the downhill routes and the bike park.

The mountain restaurant, the summer toboggan run, the zip wire, the large children’s playground at the upper station and the adventure high ropes park at the middle station combine to make Monte Tamaro a mountain packed with adventure. The Splash & Spa Tamaro in Rivera, a water park spread across more than 10,000 square metres, is also a real delight for water babies.
