Dachstein.  Hallstatt is one of the most well-known towns in the Salzkammergut, a famous lake district in the state of Upper Austria, east of the city of Salzburg, the heart of which is now a UNESCO World Heritage Site.  Hallstatt was once most closely associated with salt production.
