Flying on a cold weekend in Berlin! Saturday we threw our fresh build 6" Alien 'Widowmaker' into the air. As with Ray's Alien 5" we decided to go for a 4" body. It just looks sexier and is a tad more agile too. Overall frame space is absolutely sufficient and the smaller standoff's give the build a pretty neat look!
Flying 6" is a whole different story, totally new feeling. Thrust and smoothness is unbelievable. This beast goes literally like on rails and almost glides like a wing. The 6" for me is definitely about elegance and spacious / big air flying. Also - when you fly high kV 5" motors you're used to screaming noise. With 6" it first felt like the quad is not really moving so fast because of the low motor sound - but - you quickly see how wrong you are when you realize the speed the quad easily gets. Endless fun!
I wasn't sure if KISS 24A can handle the F60 pro but they were fine. However, I know the 2200kV pro pulls up to 39A on 6x4.5 and since KISS 24A got a 30A limiter I suspect I am not getting the full 100% thrust the F60 could potentially deliver.
Didn't need to touch the fc tune much, we went out with stock PIDs on and it worked like a charm. Only needed to halve our expo values in order to get the stick feeling right. As you can see in the vid we have taken it VERY easy with the first batteries. I like to play it safe especially when maiden over concrete. Just learnings. :) The little oscillations you see in the vid on high throttle are coming from the GoPro only because I have forgot to turn off video stabilization! :/
First we went to the IKEA parking lot. We used to fly there very often when we've started this hobby but now we only go there every once in a while. Generally it's not a great place because there is so much interference that the video signal is just crap. That's why we moved on to the Olympic Stadium right after a couple of batteries in the hope for the better. Same story but different: as always private driving schools on the weekend and visitors of course. Not good. Also it was still fn cold. After two lipos your fingers were begging for some pockets to warm up...
Sunday we had our sweet "SLUDGE REDEMPTION"!! We went to the place where we have lost one of our GoPro's some weeks ago. This time no problem. FPVlife! You know how it works.. when you fail you won't give up until you've done what you've wanted to do. So this we checked off our bucket list! :) Before going home we tried to fly a new spot but were kicked out right after the first lipo... no fun to fly in Berlin peeps!
Hope you enjoy this new episode! We will be back with some action in the coming vids. Much love from us! :)
