On the border of Somogyvámos, between the grain fields, a medieval church ruin rises high. The pride of the locals, which in its heyday meant protection, is now a spectacle. Based on archaeological excavations, the Pusztatorony in Somogyvámos is believed to have been built in the late Romanesque, early Gothic style in the 12th century. Its characteristic tower, which is formed from a square to an octagon, has been unshakable ever since. Somogyvámos is located north of the central part of Somogy county. It was already inhabited in the Middle Ages: The Avar cemetery excavated in the 1940s and the Pusztatorony rising in Ihász-dülő are evidence of early settlement. For the village, tourism is an outstanding opportunity, in which the Krishna Valley, which is now home to the now-famous Indian Cultural Center and Biofarm-Eco Village, plays a key role.
