🌸 A Magical Dawn in Rome: Piazza di Spagna in Bloom Like You've Never Seen It!

There's a time of year when Rome surpasses itself, becoming a living canvas. I'm talking about the blooming of the traditional Roman azaleas on the Spanish Steps in Piazza di Spagna.

I had the privilege (and the wake-up call at an ungodly hour!) of flying through this unique setting at the crack of dawn with the new DJI Avata 360. Seeing the sun rise and illuminate the pink and white azaleas, while the square was still deserted, gave me a truly breathtaking feeling and light.

But to do justice to such beauty, technique had to meet poetry.

🎬 The Secret of Color: D-Log M - HDR BT.2020 HLG 10-Bit

For this video, I wanted to push the sensor's potential to the limit, using a workflow I recommend to all videographers:

Shooting: I recorded in 10-Bit D-Log M to capture the maximum dynamic range between the shadows of the square and the highlights of the rising sun.Editing: I worked on DJI Studio using the HDR-BT.2020 HLG color profile.

The result?

Compared to the classic Rec. 709 profile, the color rendering in HLG is incredibly richer, more vibrant, and more intense. The azalea petals and the gold of the morning light literally seem to pierce the screen!

💬 Have you tried this combo yet?

I'm calling on all drone pilots and videographers in the community:

Have you already tested the D-Log M workflow mixed with the HLG profile in post-production? How do you like Rec. 709 for your edits? Let me know in the comments below, and let's talk!
