Etna, one of the world's most active volcanoes; the city of Palermo, the capital city which lies on the island's northwestern coast; Cefalù, the ancient Greek town just east of Palermo; the ruins of Agrigento, on the southern coast; the ancient city of Syracuse near the southeastern corner; and the cities of Trapani and Marsala in western Sicily.
