Silistar beach is the most southern large beach on the Bulgarian Black Sea coast with a coastline of about 1 km and an average width of 70 m. There are no buildings and no concrete among the wild forest behind the beach, incredibly clear waters and elongated rocky promontories at both ends of the beach. At its left end is the Silistar River. It is located about 5 km from the village of Sinemorets and the village of Rezovo, in the border area with Turkey at the mouth of the eponymous river Silistar. The beach is surrounded by a picturesque shore - rocky ridges and slopes. It was declared a protected area in 1992 by the Ministry of Environment of Bulgaria. It falls on the territory of Strandzha Nature Park, as well as in the Strandzha Protected Areas of the same name for the protection of wild birds and natural habitats.

Silistar beach is also known as "Pirate Beach". It is believed that in ancient times this and the neighboring bay (Leaves) were haunts of robbers (pirates) and the name Silistar comes from the Greek word "sunlistareo" - "a place adjacent to the robber".
