Sommarøy, Norway – White Sand Beaches & Arctic Sunsets near Tromsø

AIRVŪZ STAFF NOTE :

Top AirVuz contributor timoksanen brings us this stunning drone video from the far northern part of Norway.  Sommarøy is a small island which lies off the western coast of Kvaløya, Norway's fifth-largest island by land area.  It's about 22 mi. (36 km) west of Tromsø, which lies on another island and is the largest city in the sparsely-populated northern region.  With a permanent population of just a few hundred residents, and lying well within the Arctic Circle, Sommarøy is known for its white sand beaches

Join us on a journey to Sommarøy, a charming fishing village and island in Troms, Norway, just a short drive from Kvaløya and Tromsø. Known for its white sandy beaches, crystal-clear Arctic waters, and unique island charm, Sommarøy is a true hidden gem of Northern Norway.

We visited at the end of July — the Midnight Sun season had just passed, but we were treated to stunning golden sunsets and soft sunrises over the twin-peaked Håja island, said to have inspired the design of the Arctic Cathedral in Tromsø.

Whether you’re dreaming of an Arctic summer getaway, searching for Norway travel inspiration, or simply love scenic landscapes, this video captures the magic of Sommarøy.
