St Martha's Church stands as a landmark 573 feet above sea level on the North Downs looking out over a beautiful stretch of Green Belt countryside in the Surrey Hills Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. The church is on the Pilgrim's Way between Winchester and Canterbury and is located between the manors of Chilworth and Tyting, both of which are mentioned in the Domesday Book. The Church can only be accessed by foot and many thousands of walkers come to St. Martha's Hill each year to enjoy the magnificent views from the top which spread out in all directions and on a clear day cover as many as seven counties.
There is an 11am service every Sunday which is a traditional Book of Common Prayer service which alternates weekly between Holy Communion and Mattins and the Church is usually open to visitors at weekends and bank holidays.
