The Great Lake of Alqueva & Castles #DJI #Phantom 4
AIRVŪZ STAFF NOTE :
The landscape of the area around Alqueva in the Alentejo region of southeastern Portugal has been transformed by a massive hydro-engineering project called Alqueva Dam. The dam provides electricity for the region and also helps to preserve (sometimes precious) water supplies for agriculture. The reservoir created by the dam is essentially a giant artificial lake. Contributor and pilot Flybyzion gives us a drone's eye view of the area, where centuries-old castles now sit on or near this massive body of water.

The Great Lake resulting from the Alqueva Reservoir is one of the largest artificial lakes in Europe, built on the River Guadiana.
It has a reservoir of 250km2 and covers five Alentejo municipalities, with many points of interest. The right bank offers the castles of Monsaraz and Portel, and on the left bank, Mourão and Moura provide spectacular viewpoints over this reflecting pool.
