The Iceberg
AIRVŪZ STAFF NOTE :
AirVuz contributor Peter Barthelson brings us this rare first person view (FPV) drone view of a giant iceberg off the coast of Greenland. The second officer of a research vessel that had been cruising off the island's eastern coast, he spotted the floating behemoth while on watch and took the ship in for a closer look. Like most of the icebergs of the North Atlantic this iceberg broke off of the Greenland Ice Sheet, which covers most of the world's largest island and is the second-largest icecap in the world after Antarctica's.

A big iceberg, close to the east coast of Greenland. I work onboard a research vessel as a second officer, we spent about 3 weeks on the east coast of Greenland. One of my first watches as we arrived in Greenland i could spot an Iceberg, that looked bigger than what we had seen so far, on the horizon. I told the research leader about it, and she wanted to go and check it out to do some samples around the waters close to the Iceberg. This was the first real iceberg i ever saw, and i got the oppertounity to send my fpv drone around it and check it out. Little did i know that this was just the first of MANY to come!
