Bridges - Episode 1 The Mendoza River Bridges Route 7 that connects Mendoza to Argentina's Aconcagua National Park, almost on the border with Chile, runs parallel to the Mendoza River. Thanks to it and the dry climate caused by the Andes, Mendoza is an ideal location for the vines, and of course, its famous wineries. The video flies over the old railway bridge in Upsallata and about 100km later over the Puente del Inca. The railway bridge was part of the Transandine Railways, which linked Buenos Aires to Valparaiso. The bridge was part of the first section of the railway, which connected Mendoza to Upsallata, inaugurated in 1891. Puente del Inca is a natural geological formation that was used by the indigenous peoples of the Inca culture, who already knew the hot springs that in some places warm the cold waters of the mountain range. The bridge formed over the Vacas River, which soon flows into the Mendoza River. In the area are the remains of the Hotel Puente del Inca, a 5-star spal built in 1925, which was frequented by the elite of Mendoza in its golden days. Due to weather contingencies, the hotel deteriorated and was finally destroyed by a flood in 1965. Its bizarre ruins of the thermal rooms are still visible embedded in the geological formation.
