The source of the Rio dos Sinos - Main waterfall - Caraá The unprecedented video below reveals the upper part of the great waterfall that gives rise to the Rio dos Sinos. Perhaps never filmed before, the waterfalls above the main fall are the beginning of a river that has a lot of history to tell. The source of the Rio dos Sinos is located in the Caraá Environmental Protection Area (APA), which aims to protect a fantastic region of the Atlantic Forest, with a rich flora and fauna. The region is just 120 km from Porto Alegre and is easily accessible, with dirt roads at the end. The trails are of easy difficulty in the first two waterfalls, being quite difficult to access the main waterfall at the bottom, recommending the help of local guides. The first waterfall that appears in the video is Quintal, which is very easy to access. The Fonte waterfall is 900 meters from the first, and is already an interesting trail. The Perfumada waterfall is more complicated to access, 1300 meters from the beginning. The Nascente waterfall is 2 km away and is difficult to reach. It is one of the highest in RS, being similar to Cascata do Caracol in Canela-RS. The Rio dos Sinos rises explosively, falling 126 meters to a well, leaving the heights of the Southern Plateau in the first meters of life. From then on, his journey through the municipality of Caraá begins, with crystal clear waters that make the region's residents happy. Further on, the Rolante, Areia and Paranhana rivers, among others, add up and form the great Hydrographic Basin of the Rio dos Sinos. The rest of the story will be told in the next videos.
