Visiting USS Alabama

AirVuz contributor Bumble Bee Productions brings us this excellent drone video of the USS Alabama, a US Navy ship which is now a floating museum in Mobile Bay, Alabama. The last of four South Dakota class battleships ordered on the eve of World War II, she was launched in February, 1942. Initially used to escort convoys to the USSR, the ship was attached to the famous Task Force 34 during the Battle of Leyte Gulf in the Philippines in October, 1944. The Alabama was decommissioned in 1947.

I was heading home from New Orleans one week day and as I was heading under the Mobile tunnel, I realized that the sun was setting behind me and I knew I had to stop by the USS Alabama and catch that amazing sunset. It was a bit chilly and a little windy but I had enough time to catch the sun on her. Love this Battleship park and is one of nicer ones I have visited.
