Quilico presents the first of two videos that cover the area with the highest elevations within the limits of Cajas National Park. This first video shows the glacier valley of Yantahuayco, from the Kichwa words Yanta = firewood and Huayku = stream. The valley is composed of a lacustrine system of eleven bodies of water of oligotrophic characteristics (clear waters with low productivity) that feed the stream of Yantahuayco, which later becomes the river El Chorro. Yantahuayco has an altitudinal range that goes from the 4040 to the 4400 MASL. This footage shows the geological composition of the valley, a living heritage of the last glaciation whose erosive processes left traces that are represented in the abrupt and irregular formations of its walls and rocky peaks.
