Hiking to Kodzha Kaya Peak

This video presents the conquest of Mount Kodja Kaya in eastern Stara Planina.

Mount Kodzha Kaya (The Big Rock) is the highest peak in the eastern Stara Planina and is 597 m high. At its foot is the village of Bilka. The video was shot during the ultramarathon Koja Kaya 2022. The start was from the village of Bilka. The village is located 90 km from Varna and can be reached by the road through the town of Dulgopol, which is very picturesque. It moves along the river Luda Kamchia. You can see many beautiful views, the Tsonevo dam, as well as the "Wonderful Rocks" rock landmark.

In the area of ​​the village of Bilka there are also peaks Uch Kaya (Small Rock - 407 m) and Orta Kaya (Middle Rock - 513 m).

The starting point of the route is the village of Bilka. It goes along a wide dirt road that enters a beautiful deciduous forest. The entire route is marked, so you can't get lost. There are many panoramic views of the neighboring villages of Trnak and Sokolets, and the aroma of herbs is all around you.

After the broad-leaved forest, you come out on a stony terrain with a very steep slope. There are no trees at the top and during the summer months you can feel the warmth of the sun.

The view from Koca Kaya is stunning. You can see Tsonevo Dam, Orta Kaya, Uch Kaya and many of the villages in the vicinity.

The route continues to Orta Kaya and Uch Kaya and its length is about 13 km. For the less prepared, I recommend returning on the same route back.
