Morning light slowly awakens from the surface of the lake. The stars from last night have not yet completely drifted away.  The outline of Mount Yotei is quietly reflected upon the water, standing there like an unfinished poem.  Distant clouds drift gently beyond the edge of the sky, while nearby waves receive the morning light and shimmer with a faint glow.  Time no longer seems to hurry anyone along. It leaves behind only silence and vastness.  At this moment, Lake Toya is no longer merely a landscape. It is a mirror.  It reflects the original heart — of the day I first set out, and also reflects the long-forgotten peace that had been sleeping deep within my heart.  This song was born from a certain morning at Lake Toya in Hokkaido. Before sunrise, the surface of the lake was still like a mirror, and the world was wrapped in silence, as if taking one deep breath.  In that quietness before dawn, I heard the most private monologue— one that can only be heard while traveling.
