The Mavanuru Malleshwara Temple is situated within the foothills of the Western Ghats mountains in the Hassan district in the southern part of the state of Karnataka. It shares a ridge with an array of wind turbines, which are driven by some of the highest average wind speeds in the country. As of 2023, India had the fourth-highest installed windpower capacity.
