On a job in Orange Beach, Alabama. Better known as LA (lower Alabama) or the Redneck Riviera. White sandy beaches, emerald green water and host to some amazing southern sunsets. Gulf of Mexico is beautiful this time of year and fishing abound for those sportsman looking for adventure offshore. I have known this place since 92 and even lived here for a spell before going broke and having to take on a real job. My mom lived here for a few years after I left and she absolutely loved it. Arthritis and a brand new grand daughter brought her back to Georgia and left this area. I have been back a few times but not for extended periods of time but rather passing through. I had friends that have passed away and have friends that are still around that I frequent since this job started back on September, 2022. Donnie Morgan and Ed Lockridge were fireman's for Orange Beach and I was a volunteer. I drove engine 3 even though I had zero training. don't ask! Donnie was a dear friend and one of the toughest good byes for me. he is surely missed. Then there is my good and dear friend Bobby McArthur who has since moved away from Orange Beach but lives nearby in Roberstdale. We were both volunteers but Bobby later became a full time fireman in Orange Beach this a Po Po on the marine divisions. He drove around all day on a cool boat. What a job... I am actually staying in his home while working on this project. Can't forget George Haughton, I purchased my first jet ski from his place way back when and remains a kind gentle soul selling mack daddy homes and condos. I think I will call him to do lunch this week. My mom would cook Paella for the firemen from time to time when she was not working at the Waffle House in Orange Beach. I miss my mom and those that knew her, loved her. Remember to take the time to be thankful and make time for your friends and family. I suppose this sunset became special to me.....
