A couple of weeks ago, a coworker told me that the rocket at the welcome center along I-65 at the Tennessee, Alabama border was slated for removal. I was shocked to hear that bit of news. I’ve passed that rocket countless times over the years. It was always a sign that I was almost home after a long trip. I hate to see her go, but I hope it is replaced with something related to the exploration of space.
Editing this video felt like I was saying goodbye to an old friend. I did not realize that there were only 2 of the Saturn 1B rockets left in the world. When this one is gone, you will have to travel down to the Kennedy Space Center in Florida to see the remaining S1B rocket.
