The Best of Indonesia from an Aerial View

Top AirVuz contributor NI became a 2023 Drone Video of the Year Finalist brings us this fantastic drone video from the East Java region of Indonesia.  Filmed with a DJI Mini Pro 3 drone, the video will take you over this stunningly beautiful area, which covers roughly the eastern third of Java, lies at the opposite end of Indonesia's most populous island from Jakarta.  The video mixes shots of natural wonders such as the volcanic (and active) Mt. Bromo with urban views such as those of Surabaya, Indonesia's second-largest city.  

Check out the sights and sounds of Indonesia in this excellent drone video compilation by AirVuz contributor and pilot coastal garage.  The video opens with shots of some of the coastal areas of this giant Southeast Asian archipelago, including the fabled island of Java.  From there you'll head into the interior of some of the country's 17,000 islands, many of which are volcanic in origin.  The video wraps up with shots of some rice terraces followed by an aerial view of a giant waterfall.  

Prepare to be astounded by this magnificent first person view (FPV) drone video from Indonesia by award-winning contributor Timelab.pro.   The video opens with some jaw-dropping shots of the Mt. Bromo volcano complex in the province of East Java.  Starting at about the 1:00 mark, you'll soar over the famous Sekumpul Waterfall in the interior of the island of Bali.  Other highlights include a skimming run along the Bali coastline (2:08), a flyover of Bali's satellite island of Nusa Penida (3:30), and more.  

Check out this absolutely stunning aerial tour of Indonesia by top contributor and drone pilot backpackpassion, whose used a DJI Mavic Pro 2 drone.  Ride along for some amazing bird's eye views of Java (the country's most populous island), Bali (the legendary tropical paradise to the east of Java), the "Nusa's" (a group of small satellite islands of Bali), and Lombok (an emerging rival to Bali, which lies immediately to its east in the West Nusa Tenggara province).  This film was a DVOW nominee in March, 2019.

Check out this spectacular video of one of Indonesia's most famous volcanoes in a state of eruption, compliments of top AirVuz contributor and pilot diamondsky.  Mt. Bromo is the centerpiece of the Bromo Tengger Semeru National Park in East Java.  The mountain, which occupies an important place in Hindu culture, has a peak elevation of about 2.3k meters or around 9.1k ft. above sea level.  This video earned a nomination in the landscape category at the 6th Annual New York City Drone Film Festival.  

Follow top contributor Seven Cinematics as they take a honeymoon trip through Bali, Indonesia.  A Finalist for the Drone Video of the Week in July, 2020, the video starts off at the fabled rice terraces of Tegalalang near Ubud.  Another featured spot is Tanah Lot, a famous Balinese temple on the island's southwestern coast.  You'll also see some great footage from the Gili's, a set of small islands southeast of the main island.  The last of the four spots featured is Uluwatu, a fabled surfing beach at the main island's southern tip.

New contributor bugDreamer put together this epic reel of footage from across the expanse of Indonesia.  Locations featured include Mt. Bromo and the Ijen craters in East Java; Mt. Kelimuto on Flores in the East Nusa Tenggara province; tiny  Satonda, an island just off the north coast of Sumbawa in West Nusa Tenggara; the volcanic Banda Api island in the Banda Sea in Eastern Indonesia; North and South Komodo island, just off of Flores; Mt. Agung on Bali; Sangeang Api on Sumbawa; Halmahera Hera in the Maluku Islands; and more.

Check out this excellent pro drone reel from Indonesia by new AirVuz contributor Ferdy Anggriya.  The video opens with a top-down shot over a mist-covered rainforest, followed by a beautiful sequence of the skyline of the massive city of Jakarta.   Footage of road and off-road vehicles follow, as well as some nice clips of an outdoor event, an offshore oil rig, and some legendary surfing action.    The video closes with an excellent shot of Jakarta's Gelora Bung Karno Stadium and the city's forest of skyscrapers.  

Indonesia. The southeast Asian nation made up of thousands of volcanic islands is one of the most spectacular locations to view from above. Just take this travel video by AirVuz contributor and drone pilot daniel_barrington. It features just a handful of the thousands of beaches the country has and includes top-down shots of beautiful adult and baby whales. The crystal clear waters and gushing waterfalls featured will also fill you with awe and leave you inspired to get out on your own adventure.

Check out this DVOW nominatied video of the easternmost tip of Java, Indonesia, compliments of AirVuz contributor and pilot elmandakrisna.   The regency (essentially, state or province) of Banyuwangi occupies the eastern end of the southernmost of the two "forks" of eastern Java.   The largest of Java's regencies by land area, Banyuwangi has a long southern coastline on the Indian Ocean and a somewhat shorter eastern coastline on the Strait of Bali, across which lies the strait's namesakle island.  Like much of Java, Banyuwangi's interior is mountainous.  

Check out this DVOW nominated video of the Indonesian metropolis of Jakarta, compliments of bboytekki. The video opens with a great shot of the Gelora Bung Karno Sports Complex, one of the largest football stadiums in Southeast Asia. From there you'll be taken over the canyons created by the skyscrapers of central Jakarta, dozens of which have been built in the past few years. You'll also get aerial glimpses of some of the city's massive highways and interchanges, its waterfront, and other sights in this amazing and dynamic city.    

Enjoy this outstanding travel video from Indonesia, compliments of Łukasz Jaros.  Created using drone and ground camera footage, the video opens with two of Indonesia's most famous volcanoes: Mt. Bromo and Kawah Ijen, both of which lie on the eastern side of the island of Java. Then you'll head to the neighboring island of Bali to check out the famous surfing scene on the Bukit Peninsula, on the island's southern tip.  At about the 1:30 mark, you'll see the famous Tumpak Sewu Waterfall, back in East Java, followed by more spots on Bali.  

Top contributor and drone pilot used a DJI Mavic Pro drone to create this epic aerial view of the central part of Java in Indonesia.  While the island is by far the most heavily populated in Indonesia, most of its people live on its eastern and western ends, in and around the large cities.  The central part of the island is much less heavily populated and has retained more of the traditional Javanese cultural elements.  Most of this video was filmed in the Yogyakarta region and on the Dieng Plateau.

If the pinks, oranges, yellows and blues of the opening shot of this video don't grab your attention, the list of featured locations just might. Cinematographer Ibnukf  takes viewers on a breathtaking and dynamic tour of the volcano-dotted, Indonesian island Java, the country's most populous. Locations in this video include: the active volcano Bromo Mountain; Ijen Crater; Tumpak Sewu Waterfalls; and the gushing Kabut Pelangi Waterfall. This video was picked as a Drone Video of the Week Nominee in 2018.

Contributor and drone pilot Thib from Above, who travels the world making drone videos, created this epic aerial tour of the northern and western parts of the gigantic Indonesian island of Sumatra.  The island is oriented on a northwest-southeast axis.  Whereas the central and southeastern parts of the island have a thin strip of mountains to the west and a wider strip of rainforest to the east, the northwestern parts of Sumatra is mostly mountainous and it contains the island's highest peaks.

Harau Valley lies on the west coast of the massive Indonesian island of Sumatra (Sumatera) in Indonesia, between the important provincial cities of Pekanbaru and Bukittingg.  The valley is a magnificent area of canyons and rock formations with lush green forests and rice fields in between.  Contributor Riojaya's drone video of this amazing area of the world's sixth largest island (measured by land area) was selected as a Finalist for the AirVuz Drone Video of the Week Contest in August, 2018.

North Sumatra is home to some of the most incredible natural scenery in Indonesia.  While the southern parts of the gigantic island are known for their rainforests, the northern part of Sumatra is much more mountainous, with many waterfalls.  In most places, the hills run right to the sea, so the area is blessed with spectacular ports and harbors surrounded by impressive hills.  This video, shot with a DJI Mavic Pro by JJong, will give you a bird's eye view of this amazing region of one of the world's largest islands.

For one of his first uploads to AirVuz, Romand Ramaekers brings us this rather stunning mini-aerial tour of the famed Indonesian island of Bali. Shot with a DJI Mavic Pro 2, the video features footage of some of the top sights of this island, including its famed rice terraces and beaches. The star of the show though is the magnificent Sekumpul Waterfall; located in North Bali and harder to reach than many of the island's other falls, it's absolutely stunning. This video was a DVOW finalist in October, 2019.  

Lombok is a medium-sized island lying to the east of Bali in Indonesia.  The tiny Gili Islands, which lie just across the Lombok Strait, have become a magnet for travelers seeking a more secluded vacation spot.  Both Lombok and the Gili's are part of the province of West Nusa Tenggara. Contributor Dronecult brought a drone on a trip to Lombok and these islets.  His drone flights allowed him to create this amazing aerial view of a true tropical paradise with shimmering blue waters and white sand beaches.  

Top AirVuz contributor and pilot Woodbird used a DJI Mavic Pro 2 drone to create this stunning piece from the Southeast Asian archipelago nation.  The video opens with a shot of some mist-covered rice terraces on the island of Flores, one of the main islands of the East Nusa Tenggara Region.  The rest of the footage is from Java, the country's most populous island.  Here you'll be treated to views of dark rainforests, volcanic calderas, and the Tumpak Sewu Waterfall, one of the country's most famous.  

Cubabak is a small island which sits off the west coast of the Indonesian island of Sumatra, the largest island in the archipelago by land area.  Contributor Mattcoq traveled to the island for Chinese New Year and used a DJI Phantom 3 Professional drone to create a stunning aerial tour of this tropical paradise, which lies just a short distance across the water from the provincial city of Padang.  Padang is the most important urban area on the western coast of Sumatra and is the capital of the West Sumatra province.  

The Komodo islands are home to the world’s largest species of lizard, the Komodo dragon. Content creator and pilot Big Head Greg flew a DJI Phantom 4 drone over the islands' national park (which has been designated as a UNESCO World Heritage natural site) to capture its lush green landscape. This jaw dropping aerial video is the result of his efforts.  Prepare to be amazed by the bird's eye view of these amazing islands which lie in the middle of the archipelago, in the province of East Nusa Tenggara.

Top contributor AerialRhianna created this epic drone video of Bukit Lawang, a village in the heart of the jungle of North Sumatra in Indonesia.  The village sits on the Bahorok River, which flows eastward through the province before discharging into the Malacca Strait.  Bukit Lawang is home to the largest animal sanctuary of Sumatran orangutan, and also the main eastern access point to the Gunung Leuser National Park.  The area has become one of Indonesia's top eco-tourism destinations.

Contributor and drone pilot ery.satriadi@gmail.com used a DJI Mavic Pro and a DJI Phantom 4 drone to create this amazing aerial video of Flores, Indonesia and its surrounding islands.  Flores is a long island situated in the East Tenggara province of Indonesia, part of the Lesser Sunda islands which run through the country's southern portion.  The well known islands of Komodo and Padar lie just to its west.  The video includes footage of Waerebo Village, Kanawa Island, Siaba Bay, Padar Island, Komodo Island, and Pink Beach.

Top AirVuz contributor and two-time Drone Video of the Week Finalist DiamondSky put together this fantastic piece from one of Indonesia's most famous waterfalls.  Tumpak Sewu Waterfalls is located on the border between two regencies of the province of East Java.  The tiered waterfall is located below Mount Semeru, Java's highest volcano.  Fed by the Glidik River, the waterfall's name loosely translates to "a thousand waterfalls"; when you see the video, you will understand why this name is appropriate.  

Check out some of Indonesia's most beautiful islands, compliments of AirVuz contributor and drone pilot Falcon_drone.   The video features footage of Mt. Rinjani (the great Volcano on the island of Lombok), Kelimutu (an island on the island of Flores), as well as other spots on Flores and Lombok.  Both islands are part of the Lesser Sunda group of islands, which extends east of the island of Java.  They are the most populous islands in the provinces of East Nusa Tenggara and West Nusa Tenggara, respectively.  

Ibnukf used a drone and ground camera footage to create this amazing video of a traditional festival known as the Sago Caterpillar Party in eastern Indonesia.  The festival is held in an area called Kambay, which is deep in the interior of the country's West Papua province.  West Papua is the western half of the island of New Guinea, the world's second largest island after Greenland.  Indonesia only has control of the western part of the island; the eastern half is the territory of the nation of Papua New Guinea.  

Top contributor Sandrine Hecq travels to some of the world's most exotic places to make travel videos for her social media audience.  To make this magnificent video, nominated for DVOW in June 2019, she traveled to the island of Nusa Penida in Indonesia's Bali province.  It's situated more or less due east of Denpasar, the provincial capital, which lies at the southern end of Bali's main island.  Nusa Penida is known for its bird sanctuaries, mountainous interior, white-sand beaches, and world-class diving.

New contributor and drone pilot Hosea brings us this excellent drone video from the Indonesian island of Batam.  Batam is one of the main islands in the Riau Islands, a sub-archipelago which lies just east of the giant island of Sumatra and just south of the Malay Peninsula on the Asian mainland.  The video features footage of the following locations:  the Nagoya (Lubuk Baja) District of Batam city, the Batam city center, Muka Kuning Industrial Area, the Tg Uncang Hotel, Barelang Bridge, the Sambu Island, Hang Nadim Airport, and Kabil.

AirVuz contributor and drone pilot Oliver Leyba created this magnificent video record of a trip aboard an Indonesian motor yacht operated by the company Mermaid Liveaboards.  The vessel is the 28 meter (just over 90 ft.) Mermaid I, traveling between Sorong in the province of West Papua to Maumere on the island of Flores in East Nusa Tenggara.  The video combines drone footage from a Mavic Pro 2 with ground and underwater camera footage to record some of the dives on what surely appears to be an epic trip.  

The heart of the burgeoning tourist industry is a belt of islands that extend across three provinces east of Java, the world's most populous island.  In this drone video by bbacalhau, who was a Finalist for the first annual Drone Video Awards, you'll get a (mostly) aerial tour of three of these island (1) Bali, which is Indonesia's most popular tourist-destination island; (2) the Gili Islands just off Lombok, heralded as the "next Bali"; and (3) Komodo, a bit further east, which is home to the famous Komodo Dragon lizard.   

Top AirVuz contributor and pilot BeemFlights brings us this DVOW nominated film from the great Indonesian city of Bandung. The capital of the province of West Java, Bandung is the country's fourth largest city (after Jakarta, Surabaya, and Bekasi) and the center of its third-largest metropolitan area.  Situated in a river valley and surrounded by mountains, Bandung's elevation of 770 meters above sea level (around 2.5k ft.) provides it with cooler climate compared to the country's other large cities.  

Top contributor Jaxon_roberts, whose "Byron Bay" is the most-viewed video on AirVuz as of mid-2019, does it again with this stunner from Bali, Indonesia.  Using his trademark style of people-oriented videos filmed with a combination of drone and ground camera footage, he gives us a one-minute tour of this tropical paradise.  It's all here: beaches, rice terraces, bike trails, volcanoes, Balinese temples, stand-up paddleboarding, and more.  This video was a DVOW nominee in June, 2019.

Epicspence created this stunning drone video from the heart of southern Indonesia.  The islands covered are part of the Lesser Sunda Islands, a chain which extends east from Java and includes the provinces of Bali, West Nusa Tenggara, and East Nusa Tenggara.  The specific islands featured in the video include Bali (including Ubud in the Bali Highlands), Nusa Lembongan (one of a group of small islands lying to the southeast of Bali), and Labuan Bajo (located on the western end of the island of Flores).

DigitalTravelCouple put together this excellent captioned aerial tour of some of the best beaches on the Indonesian island of Lombok.  Featured locations include Tanjung Aan Beach, which lies on a bay on the south side of the island; Bukit Marese, just to its south; Batu Berang Beach in Tampah, a bit to the east; Pantai Mawi, which lies a bit west of Bukit Marese; Mandalika and Pantai Seger, in the middle of the southern coastline; Selong Belanak, near Pantai Mawi; Bukit Malaka, on the island's northwestern side, and more.
