Lombok and Gili Trawangan: From Dusk to Dawn

DroneCult

Lombok is a medium sized island lying to the east of Bali in Indonesia.  The tiny Gili Islands, which lie just across the Lombok Strait, have become a magnet for travelers seeking a more secluded vacation spot.  Both Lombok and the Gili's are part of the province of West Nusa Tenggara. Contributor Dronecult brought a drone on a trip to Lombok and these islets.  His drone flights allowed him to create this amazing aerial view of a true tropical paradise with shimmering blue waters and white sand beaches.

A Trip to the Gili Islands

Members Of No One

For an epic aerial view of the Gili Islands area off of Lombok, indonesia, it's hard to beat this drone video by Members of No One.  The video was shot over Gili Trawangan, the outer (westernmost) of the group, which also includes Gili Meno (the center island) and Gili Air (the easternmost island).  These islands were more or less uninhabited until "discovered" by adventurous backpackers in the 1970's.  Over the past few decades, they have developed into major beach destinations.

This is Lombok

Agus_Kusuma

While the Indonesian island of Lombok is perhaps best known to tourists for the three tiny Gili islands which lie off its northwestern coast, the main island itself hosts plenty of natural beauty itself.  In this video, contributor and drone pilot Agus_Kusuma created an aerial tour of the main island, one of the Lesser Sunda islands which also includes Bali.  The highlight of the video is a beautiful group "selfie" shot off of a tiny sandbar-island, which begins at around the 1:05 mark.

viktor.tserovski

Check out this amazing drone video from Indonesia's Gili Islands, compliments of contributor viktor.tserovski.  The three tiny islands sit off the northwestern coast of the island of Lombok, one of the main islands of the West Nusa Tenggara province.  The islands are particularly popular with divers, who seek their pristine coral reefs.  The Gili's are increasingly seen as an alternative to Bali, the next major island to their west.  The video was shot with a DJI Phantom 4 Pro drone.

Harry V

Prepare to be blown away by this drone video of Indonesia's Gili Islands, compliments of contributor Harry V.  The Gili's are a group of three tiny islands which lie to the northwest of Lombok, one of the islands which makes up the West Nusa Tenggara province.  The islands appeal to travelers seeking a pristine beach and diving environment; automobiles are prohibited on the islands by local ordinance.  Once virtually unknown, the islands began to be frequented by backpackers starting in the 1980's.
