Serbia: Where Are You Now?

Contributor Escapeaway created this beautiful drone video following a trip to Serbia, a country which regained its independence following the dissolution of Yugoslavia in the 1990's.  The video shows the astounding natural scenery of this country on the Balkan Peninsula in Southeastern Europe.  Most of the video was shot in the southern, more mountainous part of the country, along the Uvac River.  The highlight is some spectacular bird's eye views of the Uvac Gorge.

Urban Art in Novi Sad

Contributor Borac created this beautiful drone video of some urban art in Novi Sad, the second largest city in Serbia after the capital, Belgrade.  The mural is of a fearsome-looking tiger, obviously far from its home environment.  Novi Sad is situated in north-central Serbia.  It's on the Danube River, the great waterway that connects Novi Sad to upstream cities such as Vienna and Budapest as well as downstream cities like Belgrade and ultimately to the Black Sea.

Belgrade lights

First Production

First Production created this beautiful drone video of the Serbian capital city Belgrade, decked out for the Christmas holiday season.  The video was shot on a DJI Inspire drone with a Zenmuse X5 camera.  Belgrade is the largest city in Serbia by good measure, and is the last (ie downtream) of the great cities on the Danube River, which runs through Vienna, Bratislava, and Budapest before it reaches the Serbian capital city en route to the Black Sea.

Zemun Serbia

First Production

In this video, First Production gives us a drone's eye view of Zemun, Serbia.  Once a truly independent city, it has more or less been absorbed into the greater Belgrade area with the growth of the (nearby) Serbian capital city.   Like much of Serbia, the area around Zemun has been inhabited by humans for over two milennia.  It lies on the Danube River, just upstream from Belgrade and a rather further distance downstream from Novi Sad, Serbia's #2 urban center.

First Belgrade's half marathon

First Production

The first half marathon to take place in Belgrade, Serbia was held in the middle of a winter blizzard.  Contributor First Production was able to get his drone in the air to capture this event from a bird's eye perspective.  By following the course of the race, you'll get a great aerial tour of the great capital city.  Belgrade has a metropolitan population of about 1.5 million; it's the largest in Serbia and one of the largest in the Balkans.

EXIT Musicfestival 2017 - Summer of LOVE

Contributor Zmijans created this amazing aerial video of the EXIT Music Festival, one of the largest in Serbia.  It's held in early July in Novi Sad, Serbia's second largest city.  The festival has been running for nearly 20 years, and features internationally known musical acts.  While Novi Sad isn't the largest city in Serbia (that title goes to Belgrade) it is in some respects the cultural center of the country and thus a natural spot for large events such as EXIT.

Gostilje Waterfall

Contributor and drone pilot Steptheone created this beautiful aerial view of the Gostilje Waterfall, one of the largest in Serbia.  It's near the village of Zlatibor in the west-central part of the country, not far from the border with Serbia's neighbors Bosnia & Herzegovina and Montenegro.  The Falls originate from the Balkan Mountains which run down the Balkan Peninsula and cover much of Serbia south of the country's capital city Belgrade.

Adaševci: On Serbia's Pannonian Plain

Contributor IDStudio created this beautiful drone video from a town in the northwestern corner of Serbia, near its borders with Bosnia Herzegovina and Croatia.  Adaševci is a small town in the province of Vojvodina, which covers much of the northern portion of this country which was part of the former Yugoslavia.  It's in an area called the Pannonian Plain, also known as the Carpathian Basin, which is home to some of the most fertile land in Southeastern Europe.

Frozen Danube - Part TWO

The Danube is one of the most important rivers in Europe, and it is without question the most important river in Serbia.  The great river flows through its two largest cities: the capital city Belgrade, and Novi Sad which lies upstream.  In this video, contributor Zmijans gives us an aerial look at a nearly frozen Danube as it flows through Novi Sad, a city of about 300,000 which is considered to be the cultural capital of this Southeastern European country.
