Factories are an important part of many landscapes. In some parts of the world like England's Midlands and Northern region, the USA's New England and Midwestern regions, and western Germany, they are more of a symbol of an industrial past, while in places like China factories are very much the industrial present. Whether they make shoes or microchips or electricity, manufacturing facilities fundamentally differ from other types of structures. Oftentimes, their size and complexity make them difficult to appreciate or even comprehend from ground level. Enter, the drone. Airborne cameras can provide a unique perspective to help understand what different types of factories do and how they do it. From abandoned paper mills to modern power plants, here are the best drone videos of the world's workshops! Contributor and pilot caldroneflyer used a DJI Mavic Pro 2 to film one of the world's largest and best-known factories - the main Tesla assembly plant in northern California. It's situated in Fremont, a large community on the east side of San Francisco Bay. The plant began its life in 1962 as a General Motors factory, then became part of a joint venture between GM and Toyota which ended in 2009. Purchased by Tesla the next year and heavily renovated, it began producing Tesla Model S's in 2012.
