Aerial Tour of Serbia

Serbia: Where Are You Now?

Top contributor and pilot Escapeaway created this beautiful drone video following a trip to Serbia, a Southeast European country which regained its independence following the dissolution of Yugoslavia in the 1990's.  The video shows the astounding natural scenery of this country on the Balkan Peninsula in Southeastern Europe.  Most of the video was shot in the southern, more mountainous part of the country, along the Uvac River.  The highlight is some spectacular bird's eye views of the Uvac Gorge.

Serbia Highlights

Top AirVuz contributor and pilot NGreyTravels brings us this short but excellent drone video record of a trip to the Southeast European country of Serbia.  At the :10 mark, you'll see the famous house improbably perched on a rock on the Drina River, followed by an overhead shot of the Manasija Monastery near Despotovac.  At the :31 mark, you'll see the medieval hilltop Maglič Fortress, followed by the winding Uvac River Canyon; you'll also see some great shots of the mountains which run through much of the country.

Belgrade: Serbia's National Capital

First Prod...

First Production created this beautiful drone video of the Serbian capital city Belgrade, decked out for the Christmas holiday.  The video was shot on a DJI Inspire drone with a Zenmuse X5 camera.  Belgrade is the largest city in Serbia by good measure, and is the last (ie downtream) of the great cities on the Danube River, which runs through Vienna, Bratislava, and Budapest before it Belgrade en route to the Black Sea.  With a metropolitan population of about 1.7 million as of 2019, it's one of the larger cities in Southeastern Europe.

Zamun: Metropolitan Belgrade

Zemun Serbia

First Prod...

In this video, contributor First Production gives us a drone's eye view of Zemun, Serbia.  Once a truly independent city, it has more or less been absorbed into the greater Belgrade area with the growth of the (nearby) Serbian capital city.   The city lies on the Danube River, just upstream from Belgrade and a rather further distance downstream from Novi Sad.  Prior to World War I, Zemun was part of the Austro-Hungarian Empire and was fiercely contested during the bloody World War I battles between Austria-Hungary and Serbia.

Content creator and drone pilot Zmijans created this amazing aerial video of the EXIT Music Festival, one of the largest in Serbia.  It's held in early July in Novi Sad, Serbia's second largest city and generally considered its cultural capital.  The festival has been running for nearly 20 years, and features internationally known musical acts.  While Novi Sad isn't the largest city in Serbia (that title goes to Belgrade) it is in some respects the cultural center of the country and thus a natural spot for large events such as EXIT.

Contributor Borac created this beautiful drone video of some urban art in Novi Sad, the second largest city in Serbia after the capital, Belgrade.  The mural is of a fearsome-looking tiger, obviously far from its home environment.  Novi Sad is situated in north-central Serbia, and in many respects it's considered the country's cultural capital.  It's on the Danube River, the great waterway that connects Novi Sad to upstream cities such as Vienna and Budapest as well as downstream cities like Belgrade and ultimately to the Black Sea.

The Mountains of Southwestern Serbia

The part of West Serbia - Mountain Zlatibor & Tara, Prirodni Rezervat Uvac

Check out these wonderful drone views from western Serbia, compliments of new contributor dirbylukastojkovic.  The areas filmed are in the Dinaric Alps, which form the natural boundary between Serbia and Bosnia and Herzegovina.  Some of the locations featured include the Zlatibor masif, Tara Mountain (elevation: around 1.55k meters above sea level or just over 5k ft.), and the Uvac Special Nature Reserve.  The area is part of the  Zlatibor District of Šumadija and Western Serbia, one of Serbia's five official regions.

Gostilje Falls

Gostilje Waterfall

Contributor and drone pilot Steptheone created this beautiful aerial view of the Gostilje Waterfall, one of the largest in the Southeast European country of Serbia.  The waterall is situated near the village of Zlatibor in the west-central part of the country, not far from the border with Serbia's neighbors Bosnia & Herzegovina and Montenegro.  The Falls originate from the Balkan Mountains which run down the Balkan Peninsula and cover much of Serbia south of the country's capital city Belgrade.

Vojvodina Province: Adaševci

Adaševci: On Serbia's Pannonian Plain

Contributor and pilot IDStudio created this beautiful drone video from a town in the northwestern corner of Serbia, near its borders with its neighbors Bosnia Herzegovina and Croatia.  Adaševci is a small town in the province of Vojvodina, which covers much of the northern portion of this country which was part of the former Yugoslavia.  It's in an area called the Pannonian Plain, also known as the Carpathian Basin, which is home to some of the most fertile land in Southeastern Europe.

The Danube is one of the most important rivers in Europe, and it is without question the most important river in Serbia.  The great river flows through its two largest cities: the capital city Belgrade, and Novi Sad, the latter of which lies upstream of the former.  In this video, contributor and drone pilot Zmijans gives us an aerial look at a nearly frozen Danube as it flows through Novi Sad, a city of about 300,000 which is considered to be the cultural capital of this Southeastern European country.

Serbian Ocean - Peskara, Zrenjanin 🙏🏼

Stevan Kos...

For a first upload to AirVuz, brand-new contributor Stevan Kospetin brings us this excellent drone video of a lake area in the Balkan country of Serbia.  It's called Lake Peskara, and it's located just south of the town of Zrenjanin, about an hour's drive north of the national capital city of Belgrade.  The area is part of Vojvodina, the country's northernmost province.  This area of Serbia is part of the Pannonian Basin, a lowland area which is also often referred to as the Great Hungarian Plain.

Church of St. Sava: Seat of Serbian Orthodoxy

Temple of Saint Sava

The Church of St. Sava in Belgrade, Serbia is one of the most important cultural landmarks in this Southeast European nation and one of the largest Eastern Orthodox churches in the world.  Dedicated to St. Sava, it is built on the presumed grave of the father of the Serbian branch of Eastern Orthodoxy.  Commissioned in the interwar years when Belgrade was part of Yugoslavia, its construction was interrupted by World War II and only completed in 1984.  Check it out from above in this drone video by AirVuz contributor sphereview.

Check out this stunning drone video from the Balkan Mountains in Serbia, compliments of contributor Nature Drones.  The range forms a rough "j" shape, serving as the natural boundary between Serbia and Bulgaria before running east through central Bulgaria to the Black Sea.  While the range's highest peaks are in Bulgaria, they reach as high as almost 2.2k meters above sea level (7.1k ft.) at the summit of Midžor in Serbia.  As you will see in the video, in the wintertime the mountains are very popular with skiers.

FPV Tour of Novi Sad

Novi Sad Town Tour

Filip Petr...

You'll get entirely new perspective of the city of Novi Sad, Serbia in this amazing first person view (FPV) video by AirVuz contributor Filip Petronijevic.  Lying on the banks of the Danube River upstream from the national capital of Belgrade, Novi Sad is the second-largest city in this Southeast European country and in many respects its cultural capital.  Opening with an epic shot skimming over the Danube followed by a flyover of the hilltop Petrovaradin Fortress, the video was picked for the AirVuz FPV Pilots to Watch list in July, 2020.

Belgrade's Western Gate Tower

Belgrade fog

Contributor iznajmidron created this excellent morning drone view of one of the most well-known landmarks of the Serbian capital city of Belgrade: the Western City Gate, also known as the Genex Tower.  The taller of the two connected towers is residential, while the shorter tower serves as the headquarters of the Genex Group.  Completed in 1979 when the country was part of (Communist) Yugoslavia, the revolving restaurant which sits atop both towers stands about 140 meters tall or around 450 ft.

The northern half of Serbia is covered by the Pannonian Plain, which is part of the broader region known as the Great Hungarian Plain.  One of the most important agricultural centers of Southeastern Europe, the plains of Serbia have seen a surge in acreage devoted to sunflowers.  In recent years, sunflower plantings in Serbia have increased to 250k hectares, or over 600k acres.  Check out this beautiful drone video of seemingly endless Serbian sunflower fields in this excellent piece by contributor zmijans.

Gardoš Tower, Zemun

Gardosh Tower covered by smog

Check out this outstanding drone video of Serbia's Gardoš Tower, compliments of new contributor dirbylukastojkovic.  The tower lies in the town of Zemun, which lies just upstream from Belgrade on the Danube River.  The tower was completed in 1896, when Zemun was part of the Austro-Hungarian Empire.  Completed in 1896, it was one of a series of high-profile projects undertaken throughout the Hungarian side of the Empire to commemorate the 1,000 year anniversary of the establishment of the Kingdom of Hungary.
