Šášov Castle

AIRVŪZ STAFF NOTE : See what remains of Šášov Castle and its mountainous surroundings in this incredible aerial video by pilot Pavol Turčani. The castle sits on the Hron river in the Banská Bystrica Region in the south-central part of the country. According to legend, the lord to the nearby Zvolen Castle built it for his court joker who had saved his life while out hunting. The castle was built to guard a trade road, then became a royal property in the 14th century, meeting its demise during the Rebellion of Estates in 1708.
