Big news comes to us in the world of journalism… CNN has recently announced the launch of their own UAS department for news-gathering.
CNN AIR, or CNN Aerial Imagery and Reporting, will be a designated department of CNN’s network. They aim to fully integrate aerial imagery and reporting across their network, along with Turner Broadcasting and Time Warner.
CNN’s Senior VP of National News Terence Burke says that they hope to bring in drone technology to enhance the way they tell their stories.
CNN has been working alongside Georgia Tech and the FAA to bring CNN AIR into reality. CNN was specifically selected by the FAA as one of the first industry “Pathfinders” to use UAS in news-gathering.
CNN is excited to enhance their storytelling and production value, something that AirVuz has been striving to do since our inception! We’re happy to see another news source utilizing drones.
