Genesis - Geldingadalir Eruption Iceland
AIRVŪZ STAFF NOTE :
The new first person view (FPV) drone from DJI is allowing pilots who have used gimbal-stabilized DJI products such as the Mavic series transition to the exciting world of FPV flight. Top contributor and pilot haussmannvisuals is one of these pilots. Having filmed numerous volcanoes around the world, it's perhaps not surprising that he took his new DJI FPV quad to the Icelandic volcano of Geldingadalir, which began erupting in March of 2021. This video was picked as a Drone Video of the Week Finalist in April, 2021.

On March 19th a volcanic eruption started in the valley of Geldingadalir on the Reykjanes peninsula in Iceland. Seven years after the Holuhraun eruption this eruption marked the end of the wait for the next lava spectacle in Iceland. And what a spectacle it is. After initially one fissure had opened, several others started to open as well. Turning a once dull valley into an unbelievable scenery of bubbling lava lakes, smoking cones and incredible lava flows. The lava field, although by April still much much smaller than the one Holuhraun created in 2014, started to overflow and advance to other adjacent valleys. I was lucky enough to witness this even on six trips. Capturing it with my cameras & drones. Filmed on trips to the volcano on the following days: - April 8th, 9th, 12th, 13th, 14th, 16th 2021 Drones used - DJI Mavic Air 2 (RIP) - DJI Mavic 2 Pro (bottom part molten) - DJI FPV (survived by pure luck) Non-drone footage: Canon 5D IV Music: 407 Music via Premiumbeat Material available for licensing/media inquiries: daniel@haussmann-visuals.de +4917660001334
