Iron Loading in Zarautz (Basque Country)
AIRVŪZ STAFF NOTE :
Spain's Basque Country region was once one of the most important iron mining areas in the world, and its iron ore resources served as the base to create what was once one of the world's most advanced metalworking industries. In this drone video by contributor and pilot dronostia, you'll get a bird's eye view of an important reminder of this rich industrial history. It's the remains of an iron ore loading platform near Zarautz in Gipuzkoa, the northeasternmost of the three Basque Country provinces.

The group is located between the municipalities of Zarautz and Orio, in Guipúzcoa, on Mount Mollarri (located 17 km west of San Sebastián). It is one of the most important examples of industrial heritage on the coast of Guipúzcoa. It is an iron mine in Asteasu, some warehouses, and an aerial cable that ended in a metallic loading dock over the sea, making it possible to transport the iron to the ships.
