Kayaköy Turkey Ghost Town

Kayaköy is an ancient town, formerly known as Karmilassos (Greek) that was evacuated in 1923. The town's history is deadly; much of the population was made up of Greek and Christian minorities in the Ottoman Empire during World War I. During and after the war, the townspeople had their land taken or were sent to labour camps. Any who didn’t die were later forced to leave.
