The ancient city of Mdina on the island of Malta is one of the cultural and historical treasures of the Mediterranean region. Situated in the north-central part of the main island, the city dates to the Antiquity. It served as the Maltese capital city until the Knights of St. John took over the island in the 16th century and moved the capital to Birgu, one of the cities on the Grand Harbor. Seen from above in this outstanding drone video by jbpix_, Mdina "played the role" of Kings Landing in Season 1 of HBO's Game of Thrones.
