The spectacular coastline and towns of the Basque Country in Northern Spain

The coastline in the western Basque country (near Bilbou) is stunningly rugged rugged. The coastline is dotted with a few protected coves, such as Bahia de Plentzia and charming coastal towns. Plantzia is a romantic town with narrow streets, stunning beaches and the Plentzia River Walk. And clearly if you like to boat...it's a place for you.   Coastal flysch succession   As a geologist the area is famous for it's deepwater deposits. The steep cliffs of flysch (deep waster sediments) from the late Cretaceous (time of the dinosaurs) to Palaeogene age. The flysch is a sequence of sedimentary rocks that make up one of the longest continuous rock strata in the world.   Video shot with a Mavic 3 Cine
