Lake Idro or Eridio - province of Brescia on the border with Trentino

AIRVŪZ STAFF NOTE :

Top AirVuz contributor Marco Miele brings us this stunning drone video of a mountain lake in northern Italy.  It's called Lake Idro, and it's located primarily in the province of Brescia in the region of Lombardy although a portion of the lake lies in the neighboring province of Trentino.  Situated just to the west of the much-larger Lake Garda in the Prealps (foothills of the Alps Mountain chain), Lake Ideo is about seven mi. long (11 km) and just over a mile wide (about two km) at its widest point.

Lake Idro or Eridio is a lake of glacial origin located in the province of Brescia on the border with Trentino. Located at 368 meters above sea level, it is formed by the waters of the Chiese river which is also its emissary. Its surface is 10.9 km² and reaches a maximum depth of 122 meters. The oldest inhabitants of Val Sabbia and the lake seem to have been the Ligurians, an ancient population that occupied northern western Italy before 2000 BC, the area has been under Roman rule since the year 16 BC. The Valley and consequently the lake area were evangelized between the sixth and seventh centuries. In the 15th century, by the Republic of Venice, the Rocca d'Anfo was built, a fortified military complex that dominates the entire lake from the slope of Mount Censo. Lake Idro is one of the first Italian natural lakes to be regulated by an artificial dam built during the 1920s, and managed under concession by the Lago d'Idro Company (SLI) until the deadline of 24 October 1987. Since then it has been a sometimes bitter confrontation is underway between the various competent authorities, the coastal populations [3], Enel which derives water for the hydroelectric power station of Carpeneda and the farmers of the plain for irrigation. The lake is an artificial reservoir, at a maximum altitude of 370 m a.s.l. of 850 million m3. From 1996 to 2001, as an experiment, the minimum vital flow was imposed and the artificial excursions of the lake were reduced from 7 to 3.25 m.
