The island nation of Iceland is considered part of Scandinavia despite lying almost 1000 km (600 mi) from mainland Europe. The natural scenery of Iceland is like no place else on earth. Iceland is one of the youngest places on the planet, having been formed from volcanic eruptions on the sea floor of the Atlantic Ocean. The spectacular landscape that nature has afforded Iceland, including many active volcanoes and endless glaciers, has led to its being a primary shooting location for HBO's Game of Thrones series. Mor have Iceland's charms gone unnoticed by drone pilots, who have flocked to the island in recent years to create highly compelling video content such as you will see in this collection. One of the most recognized sights of Iceland is an abandoned crashed airplane wreck. It's a US Navy DC-3 which ran out of fuel and crashed on Sólheimasandur, a black sand beach on the island's southern coast. While the plane's crew survived the ordeal, the wreckage was left in place.
