Beautiful Croatia


For a two minute+ tour of some of the most beautiful spots in Croatia, it's hard to beat this video by contributor Hausmannvisuals.  Using a drone, he gives us some epic aerial shots of Split, Dubrovnik, Pelješac, Sreser, Ston, and other spots in this beautiful country.  As you take in the beauty of the Adriatic waters, the mountain fortresses, and the medieval towns, you will appreciate why Croatia has been a favored shooting location for HBO's blockbuster Game of Thrones series.

Croatia's Yacht Week has become one of the most important annual events in the rarified world of yachting.  It's actually one of a half dozen or so Yacht Weeks held around the world.  The Croatian version, which is the largest in Europe, is basically a seven day floating party along the country's famed Dalmatian Coast.  Contributor Jantrnkaproductions used a combination of ground camera and drone footage to record the festivities in the Summer of 2018.

Dubrovnik - King's Landing

Avid traveler and contributor iDrone Aerials, gives us a cinematic HD view of the magnificent Croatian seaport city of Dubrovnik on the Adriatic Sea.  This well preserved 11th century city on the Dalmation Coast has been made famous recently because after it was chosen as a filming location HBO's hit show "Game of Thrones": Dubrovnik is the fictional King's Landing capital city of Westeros. This video is a Finalist in the Game of Drones category for the second annual Drone Video Awards.

Dubrovnik in Cinematic High Definition


Contributor Justin Poore created this stunning aerial tour of Dubrovnik, the ancient Croatian city located at the southernmost tip of the country on the Dalmatian Coast.  This city, with its spectacular views overlooking the Adriatic Sea, is a UNESCO World Heritage site.  Famously, it is a major filming location for HBO's Game of Thrones series, serving as the King's Landing location among other "roles".  Dubrovnik is now one of the top destinations anywhere in the Mediterranean.

Split & Zadar | Croatia | 4K Drone Video


Zadar and Split both lie on the Dalmatian Coast of Croatia, on the Adriatic Sea.  Both feature stunning beaches, Roman and Venetian ruins, and architecture spanning centuries.  The allure of Split led to it being chosen as the site of the fictional Diocletian's Palace in the HBO series Game of Thrones.  Top contributor Hamza Mujtaba was nominated for the 2017 AirVuz Drone Video Awards in the Cities category for this amazing aerial video featuring these two beautiful cities.

Croatia - Mljet & Korcula Islands, an aerial glimpse in 4K

Croatia's Korcula and Mljet Islands are two of the larger islands which lie off the country's long Dalmation Coast in the Adriatic Sea.  Korcula is the larger of the two, and is the largest island in the country after the northern island of Krk.  Contributor Amaury Descours used a DJI Phantom 3 Pro drone to aerially capture these two islands, which have played an important role in the affairs of the region for thousands of years and are now among the world's most popular sailing locations.

Contributor Jus Medic created this spectacular video of the world-class sailing scene off the Dalmatian Coast of Croatia, which sits on the Adriatic Sea.  The video provides a bird's eye view of what is considered to be some of the finest recreational sailing waters anywhere in the world, a place of torquoise blue waters, gentle breezes, and many ports and beaches.  It includes footage of the islands of Hvar, Solta, Brac, Salmatia, and more.

Krk - Stara Baška

Top contributor and drone pilot Pava created this magnificent aerial video of the village of Stara Baska, a village on the Croatian island of Krk.  Unlike most of Croatia's other well known islands which are located off the Dalmatian Coast, Krk is situated off the country's northern Adriatic coast, not far from the border with Slovenia.  Using a DJI Inspire drone, he shows us the iconic looking island, the most populous in this Southeastern European country.

Klis Fortress in Croatia


Near the town of Split lies the medieval Klis Fortress, which was built in ancient times and later became the seat of many kings of Croatia.  Perched over Split, the view of this fortification is spectacular, as you will see from this amazing drone video by contributor Justin Poore which he made using his DJI Mavic Pro drone.  The fortress was one of many sites in Croatia to chosen as filming locations for HBO's Game of Thrones; it appears as the City of Meereen in Slaver's Bay in Season 4.

Istria, the Adriatic Gem

Istria is a peninsula in the Adriatic Sea which is primarily part of Croatia but slivers of which belong to neighboring Italy and Slovenia.  It sits near the north end of the Adriatic Sea, which is considered to be part of the Mediterranean.  Contributor Alexander Petakov used a DJI Phantom 3 Standard drone to create a beautiful aerial collage of this peninsula, the largest in the Adriatic.

Plitvice Lakes is a connected series of lakes and waterfalls in Croatia in Southeastern Europe.  It's formed by a series of rivers draining the mountainous area of neighboring Bosnia, which come together to form 16 lakes.  The waters eventually unite to form the Korana River, creating one of the most spectacular bits of scenery in Europe.  In this video, contributor Travel Lifestyle gives us an epic bird's eye view of this natural wonder, considered one of the world's greatest waterfall systems.

An abandoned military base in the mountainous Balkans make for an epic 4x4 road trip and a drone video to memorialize it.  Travel Lifestyle traveled with some friends in a Jeep to travel to an old Yugoslav Army base in the mountains that lie between Bosnia and Croatia.  Using ground footage to supplement their drone footage, they did an amazing job recording the highlights of their 4x4 trip to this eerie place.

Beautiful Hvar - by @world_wide_drone


Contributor World_Wide_Drone brings us this beautiful aerial video of Hvar, one of the islands off of Croatia's Dalmation Coast.  Hvar is one of a half-dozen larger islands off the central part of the coast, in the Adriatic Sea.  Like Korcula, Mljet, and the other islands in the area, Hvar is known for its beaches, seaside villages, and of course epic sailing.  An ancient land, Hvar is frequently cited in authoritative rankings of the world's top island destinations.  Watch this video and you'll see why!

Dubrovnik Cathedral 杜布羅夫尼克大教堂


The Dubrovnik Cathedral is one of the best known sites in Dubrovnik, the highly photogenic city on Croatia's Damlation Coast.  The present structure was completed in the early 17th century on the site of several earlier versions.  The cathedral is distinguished by statues of St. Blaise which are built into the spaces between the four columns of the facade.  The distinctive design was the product of some of the most famous architects in Italy who were hired for the project.

Trakošćan Castle is one of the most famous castles in Croatia.  It's located in the far north of the country in Varaždin County, near the Slovenian border.  It was built in the 13th century, according to some sources on a site of an earlier fortress.  It fell into disuse for many years, until the 19th century when it was "rediscovered" and renovated in the Romanticist style which was popular at the time.  Nationalized after World War II, the castle is a popular tourist attraction and the site of a museum.

Gorski Kotar Adventure


Gorski Kotar is a gorgeous highlands area of northern Croatia.  It lies mostly within Primorje-Gorski Kotar County, which runs up to the border with Slovenia.  It's sparsely populated compared to Croatia's coastal regions but includes a number of small towns and cities such as  Delnice, Čabar, and Vrbovsko, among others.  Far less well known than the Dalmatian Coast, it's nonetheless extremely beautiful, pristine country.  In this video by Mesmerized, you'll get a look at the region from a bird's eye view.

Eight strangers gathered together to go aboard the Love Boat for Croatia's famous Yacht Week and contributor jantrnkaproductions documented the experience with his drone.  The yacht crew was made up of individuals from various corners of the planet, and after one week together at sea, they became one big family.  Watch as they live it up on this stunning yacht cruising the Dalmation Coast, with fine food and wine, gorgeous sea views, and endless friendship!

Golden Light of Dubrovnik - Croatia | Aerial DJI Drone cinematic Short Film


Drone pilot Swisslapse returned to the historic, fortified city of Dubrovnik, Croatia, armed with a DJI Phantom Pro and a plan to catch the city in it's best light.  In doing so, she captured sights Game of Thrones fans will recognize from Seasons 2, 3, and 5.  Watch closely for Minceta Tower, where Daenerys looked for her dragons, Fort Lovrijenac, which stood as the Red Keep, and Pile Harbour, which was the setting for both Blackwater Bay and the shores of Kings Landing.

The city Dubrovnik was once known as the capital of the Republic of Ragusa, until it was annexed by the Kingdom of Italy in 1808.  It then spent time as part of the Federation of Yugoslavia, and now it's a world tourist destination in the independent country of Croatia.  With its well-preserved walls and Mediterranean beauty, it's served as the fictional King's Landing on the Game of Thrones series.
