Drone Videos of Drift Cars

The one and only JohnnyFPV is truly a part of FPV history, and for obvious reasons.  He's the drone pilot who's equally adept in both exotic locations and high adrenaline environments, and so it's no surprise he was called upon to provided footage for a Dodge Super Bowl ad in late 2019. Watch as he catches all of the angles while the drift cars provide all of the smoke and craziness.  His articulate flying and ability to capture the exact energy of the scene make him truly an FPV Pilot to Watch on AirVuz. 

Drifting Teslas on a frozen lake in Sweden.  What could be finer?  Award-winning contributor ZilverSchmitz brings us this fantastic scene of the world's most sought-after electric cars racing through a drift course on a very frozen lake near Östersund, a town in the Jämtland region of north-central Sweden.  This iconic wintertime scene is a perfect backdrop to see how these battery-powered cars perform in a traction-deficient environment.  It makes for a very entertaining 60 second video, well worth a watch.

In this adrenaline-charged 60 seconds, Team AirVuz pilot Phluxyfpv made the most of a Minnesota winter reality: frozen lakes.  Watch as his quad chases some professional drift racers spinning around the white course while the GoPro captures all of the action.  Of course, Phluxy has no problem keeping up, considering he placed 3rd in the 2019 season of the Drone Racing League (DRL).  For this gem of an FPV video, we of course had to put him on our FPV Pilots to Watch in March 2020.

Since 2007, JustDrift, LLC. has hosted the 'All Star Bash' drift car event for a growing crowd of spectators and drivers alike, and in 2017 content creator Endless Aerial caught the madness from above with his drone.  The aerial footage, taken in the desert setting of Willow Spring International Raceway, is action-packed and reflects the exhilarating, yet satisyfing challenge of shooting video of these tire shredding, throttle modulating, and smoke-filled moments.

In this amazing video, contributor Memmi filmed a car drifting event at the Englishtown Raceway in Middlesex County, New Jersey.  Shot with a DJI Inspire 2 drone using a Zenmuse X7 camera, this was a finalist for the Drone Video of the Week Contest and was also a winner of the Drone Video of the Month Awards in July, 2018. In early 2019, it was picked as a Finalist in the Extreme Sports category for the second annual AirVuz Drone Video Awards.

Gridlife Midwest is an amazing festival that offers its crowds the best of a few worlds, namely car shows, racing, drifting, and Time attack, as well as concerts of EDM, alternative, and hiphop music once the car events are over.  Enthusiasts make their way every year since 2013, and in 2018, contributor Aerial Vision Chicago captured some hot aerial footage for this exciting reel. 

Legendary first person view (FPV) drone pilot JohnnyFPV does it again! With promises of a good ol' fashioned face-melting, he kicks things off with some slow-mo action of his nimble quad flying through that thick tire smoke on the track below.  Keeping his racing drone in close proximity to the speeding drift cars, he shows absolutely no fear and has his expert-level flight skills on full display. Get right into the action in this wicked drone chase with the very talented and world renowned drone pilot JohnnyFPV.

The low light of night didn't stop FPV pilot roland.balasko from chasing these drift cars down the track! This wild ride took place in Budapest, Hungary at Fritzen Fest 2017, and the drone footage gives a sweet view of the epic slides, billowing tires, and general madness as these drivers chase around the track. His quad skills are put to the test as he gets caught in their headlights, but not to worry...these guys are all pros. 

Buckle up because we have FPV extraordinaire Airburner tearing it up in the lot with his drift buddies in this awesome FPV chase. These guys really make their mark as they burn some serious rubber. Airburner charges through, above, and around the extreme auto action with his quadcopter.  The tire smoke these guys kick up is so thick you can almost smell it through the screen. Check it out!

When it comes to drone footage of drift car races,  stay tuned to Endless Aerial's profile on AirVūz, because that just happens to be their finely-honed specialty.  They covered JustDrift's All Star Drift Bash 2018 and got all the adrenaline-bursting, rubber-burning, and dust-eating shots of the big event, and clearly the footage doesn't disappoint.  See all the action from an aerial view in this crazy fun edit...we could watch it for days.

It would be a mistake to call this scene mayheim, as it's actually the ultimate in purposeful maneuvers that just happen to push a car to its limits.  Nonetheless, the sheer sight of these vehicles smoking and sliding gets even the calmest of heart rates racing.  While these brave drivers drifted their way around the track for 2018 East Coast Bash at the Englishtown Raceway, we get to watch from the best seat in the house - above - courtesy of drone pilot Memmi.

...and why wouldn't professional FPV drone racer Gab707 mix things up with a little car drifting? The ultimate adrenaline-spiking way to race around a track can - and should - be paired up with a fast and nimble racing drone to capture the tire-squeeling, apex-hitting, full throttle views in epic form, and as you'll see in this vid, that's just what Gab707 did.  We're all feeling a bit more charged up and ready to face the wild world, now. Take a behind the scenes look with the one and only JohnnyFPV as he recaps a flight from late 2019.  The setting for the mayhem was Irwindale Speedway in southern California, which was hosting a Formula drift race and its last race of the season. Watch as he tracks these beasts of machines sliding around the track, throwing smoke and screaming while Johnny did his magic by providing an FPV livestream.  He worked his angles and pulled plenty of killer maneuvers to give us all yet another epic JohnnyFPV video.

Within the first few seconds of this FPV video, we’ll see a car balancing on its left two wheels. If that doesn’t leave you wanting to see more, we don’t know what will. Livyu FPV is taking us up close and personal behind the cars involved in this year’s Romania Drift Championship. This was the final run for the year so drivers really left it all out on the blacktop. Livyu FPV does an excellent job keeping pace with the rubber-burning race cars.

Clocking in at only twenty seconds, our only problem with this drone racing video is that it’s too short. Talented AirVuz content creator and first person view (FPV) drone pilot George FPV gets up close and personal with these drift racing cars, tailing along six different vehicles each of which is unique in their look, both body of the car and style.  Featured on the AirVuz social media pages in 2019, you can see more videos like this one in both our Drone Videos of Drift Cars and FPV Car Chasing custom collections. 

Check out this fantastic first person view (FPV) video from a racing quad chasing a drifting Porsche 911 GT3, compliments of AirVuz contributor and pilot Mroowa.  This rear-engine beast sports peak power output of 500 bhp, making it one of the fastest production vehicles.  It's part of one of the most storied lines in automotive history, the Porsche 911.  First rolled out in 1964, it's been consistently one of the world's most sought-after cars, even as it famously switched from an air-cooled to liquid-cooled design in the late 1990's.  

Who doesn’t love a great drift car chase video via FPV drone? We certainly do, especially this recent upload by FPV pilot FietFPV. He flew he custom mini quad rigged with a GoPro Hero 6 camera around the ridiculously fast drift cars in this race. He’ll take some ground shots to set the scene, then get us up in the air in no time capturing some seriously tight proximity shots so any viewer can almost feel the rush of what it’s like to be behind the wheel. 

The proximity drone flying in this underground drift car race video is insane. Props go out to FPV pilot Drone Race Studio for creating this epic, 4K piece that’s all about the chase with beginning-to-end, drift-car-by-FPV excitement. He’ll take us to Khon Kaen, one of the four major cities in Isan, Thailand. Lying around 450 km northeast of Bangkok, the city is home to around 2 million people. 

JohnnyFPV has taken out his mini quad and is getting all the angles at a Formula Drift event in Orlando, Florida, USA. His proximity flying in this piece is no joke; at certain points in the flight, the professional drone pilot gets so close to the windows of the cars you think he’s going to either break the window or crash his quad and watch it shatter in a spectacular fashion. Leave it to Johnny to get just that much tighter and make drift chasing that much more dramatic. This video made the FPV Pilots to Watch list in May of 2019.

JohnnyFPV has done it again, blowing all of our expectations out of the water with this spectacular FPV video. The AirVuz FPV Drone Video of the Year Award Winner takes a ridiculous ride tracking Formula Drift racers around the blacktop and through the mountainside, taking in the burnouts and keeping up with some of the fastest, tightest cars in the world. If you’re curious about the gear JohnnyFPV uses in flights like this, he’ll tell you all about it after the footage wraps near the end of the video. 

As pilot Banner_Drones found out, it’s not as easy as one might think to get on a racing track with your mini quad. According to him, very few tracks in the Miami area will allow FPV pilots to fly around cars on their tracks. However, his skills and certifications got him out behind these drivers. He’ll take in the sharp corners, flying tight behind the drifting cars and ripping through the dirt being kicked up at his racing quad.
