Marmara is the northwesternmost of the seven official regions of Turkey, and the only one not lying entirely in Asia. It is centered on the Sea of Marmara, an inland sea which connects the Aegean Sea to the Black Sea. Marmara is the smallest of the country's regions by area but the largest in population. It includes the great metropolis of Istanbul, which is simultaneously one of the great cities of Asia and Europe, as well as Bursa, which is Turkey's fourth largest city. The former seat of the great Ottoman Empire, Marama's cultural scenery includes come of the world's most famous mosques and other important historical sites. Like the Aegean region to its south, Marmara's natural scenery includes numerous marshes and lakes which also serve as large bird sancturaries. Here is a collection of the best drone videos from this area which figuratively and literally bridges Asia and Europe. Contributor Korayus used a drone to record an epic hike to the peak of one of Turkey's most important mountains. Mt. Uludağ is located in the province of Bursa in the northwestern part of the country. With a peak elevation of about 2.55k meters (just over 8.3k ft.) above sea level, it is the highest mountain in the entire Marmara region. The mountain is known as Olympos in Greek, and like its "cousin" mountain in northern Greece, Uludağ was once home to numerous Eastern Orthodox monasteries.

AirVuz contributor and pilot Atamer.Medya brings us this marvelous wintertime drone video of the Turkish town of Gölyazı. The town sits at the tip of a narrow peninsula on the northeastern shore of Lake Uluabat, one of Turkey's larger freshwater lakes, which is located south of the Sea of Marmara and west of the city of Bursa in the (northwestern) region of Marmara. The town of Gölyazı dates to the Antiquity; it was founded by Greek colonists but also bears imprints of later Roman influence.
