Portugal: On the Edge of the World

Eaglewood Pictures

Eaglewood Films took to the skies along the coast of Portugal to capture its rugged and picturesque landscape in 4K. Once believed to be located on the very edge of the inhabited world, Portugal was one of the first areas of Europe to launch long distance ships, which it then used its to amass one of the world's greatest empires in the 15th and 16th centuries.  This aerial video of the coastline in the Alentejo and Algarve regions will show you why this country has become such a popular destination for tourists and drone pilots alike.

There is something about this drone video by top contributor and pilot Nonexistent Jay of Portugal's Azores archipelago that is just amazing.  The deep blue water of the Atlantic Ocean, the volcanic craters, the narrow winding roads, the fog-enshrouded hilltops, the lush green valleys - it just works.  The nine volcanic islands are vestiges of the once-mighty Portuguese Empire; now they operate as a semi-automous region, similar to Madeira, which is an island located closer to the Portuguese mainland.
