Mont St. Michel is an island off the coast of northwestern France. It is situated near the mouth of the Couesnon River, which forms the border between Normandy and Brittany. The monastery which dominates the island, built in the 8th century, is one of the most widely recognized historical sites in the world and a UNESCO World Heritage site. The Basque people of southwestern Europe have a highly distinct culture, which evolved in partial isolation from those of neighbors Spain and France by virtue of unusual geographical factors.  While the heart of the region is in northern Spain, a portion reaches into southwestern France.  Cabaye created this beautiful aerial video of the French portion of Basque Country, on the Bay of Biscay.  The video includes footage of Hendaye, Artzamendi, Rhune, and Biarritz.

Carreg Cannen is a famous Welsh castle near the town of Trap in the southwestern part of Wales.  Surrounded by massive limestone rock formations, the 12th century castle, which has not been functional since the 15th century, has a daunting appearance.  Contributor Nethan Jermy shot this impressive aerial video of the great ruins using a DJI Phantom drone.  The castle, located in Brecon Beacons National Park, was named by Touropia as one of the top 10 Welsh castles.

Few regions have captured the imaginations of the world's travelers than Wales, the region of western Great Britain.  Unlike Scotland, this Celtic land did come under Roman control, and it came under English control earlier than the lands to the north.  Even so, it retained many unique cultural elements, some of which are a function of its spectacularly beautiful geography.  In this video, contributor Ixnevin gives us a bird's eye look at some of the fantastic natural scenery for which Wales is famous.

Contributor Zdronu presents his spectacular adventure in Ireland from a drone. In one week, he visited iconic places like the Cliffs of Moher, Rock of Cashel, Kilkenny Castle, Drombeg Stone Circle, Burren National Park, Galway, and Charles Fort. It's especially impressive given the weather: due to hazardous conditions created by hurricane Ophelia, there were times he couldn't even fly. The aerial footage he managed to capture of Ireland's lush green landscapes and ancient structures is outstanding.

Kinderdijk is an incredibly well preserved Dutch village in the Netherlands province of South Holland.  It is known primarily for its large concentration of old fashioned windmills, which were not invented by the Dutch but where an older design was perfected.  AirVuz contributor Mike Zwiggers used a combination of drone and ground footage to create this amazing video of the town, which has been designated as a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

While the Dutch did not invent windmills, they  developed the post mill design which is the most iconic.  The harnessing of wind to saw timber for ships was one of the reasons that Holland (the western province of the Netherlands) was able to establish a huge overseas empire in the 16th-17th centuries, in effect punching far above its weight.  Contributor Benpwallis used a drone to create an amazing aerial tour of these predecessors to modern wind turbines.

Vianden, Luxembourg Phantom 4 Pro

DivaneFilm used a DJI Phantom 4 drone to create this beautiful video of Vianden, a town in the tiny country of Luxembourg.  The castle which dominates the town was built beginning in the 11th century.  The castle was owned by members of the Dutch royal family until 1977, when it was given to the government of Luxembourg.  Located near the country's eastern border with Germany, the Vianden area saw heavy fighting during World War II.

Belgian contributor Kelly's Heroes created an instant drone video classic with this amazing film, which was created to help promote the Comic Arts Museum and Hotel in Ghent, the great medieval city in the country's Flanders region. It tells a human story, set against a beautiful backdrop of the Benelux landscape of plains intermixed with hills.  The video combines both elements beautifully, and it was nominated for the Drone Video of the Week Award in one of the contest's first weeks.

Bruges - Belgium

Contributor c13studio brings us this amazing drone's eye view of the medieval town of Bruges.  Situated in the West Flanders province, Bruges became an important town in the cloth trade during the late Middle Ages.  Incredibly well preserved, it's a UNESCO World Heritage cultural site.  Sometimes referred to (along with Amsterdam) as the Venice of the north due to its canals, Bruges was the shooting location of the 2008 film In Bruges.
