Top AirVuz contributor AndriThor chalked up a second Drone Video of the Week Win in April of 2021 with this amazing piece from Iceland.  The video alternates between scenes of nature and "civilization" on this volcanic North Atlantic island, which in recent years has been seeing tourist traffic of over 10x its full-time population of around 350k.  Ride along for some epic views of some of Iceland's legendary landscapes, as well as shots of some of its iconic villages and the capital city of Reykjavik.  

AirVūz contributor DroneProduction.ru spent two weeks in the North Atlantic island nation of Iceland, capturing an astonishing 2 terabytes worth of video footage.  She then used this raw material - captured with a DJI Inspire 2, a Mavic Pro 2, and a Sony a9 ground camera - to create this stunning video of some of the world's most beautiful scenery.   The video, which won DVOW and earned a NYCDFF nomination, features truly epic shots from across the island.

Drone pilot and contributor Gravity Williams created this stunning aerial film from the North Atlantic island nation of Iceland.  Shot with a DJI Mavic Air, the video features footage of the following locations: Þingvallavatn; Blue Lake; the Jökulsárlón glacial lagoon; Stuðlagil Canyon; Eyjafjallajökull Glacier; Reynisfjara Beach; Seljalandsfoss and Hafragilsfoss Waterfalls; Kerid; Svartifoss, Dettifoss, and Sellfoss Watrfalls; Fjaðrárgljúfur Canyon; Svínafellsjökull Glacier; and more. This video earned a DVOW nomination in November 2020.

The North Atlantic island nation of Iceland is known as much as anything for its glaciers and icebergs.  Much of the island covered by a series of ice caps, which are continually "calving" off giant icebergs which then float into open ocean, often through fjords.  It's this frozen wonderland which you will see from a spectacular aerial perspective in this excellent drone video by top AirVuz contributor and pilot oculusfilms.  This video was picked as a Finalist for the AirVuz Drone Video of the Week contest in May, 2021.

 brings us this stunning drone video from Iceland.     The video features a dramatic mix of shots (including dronelapse shots) of the diverse landscapes of Iceland, ranging from its mountainous highland interior to its famous black sand beaches, glaciers, waterfalls, and more.  The video was filmed with a DJI Mavic 3 drone, which unfortunately ingested some of that black sand and was temporarily rendered inoperable before getting fixed and back into the air. 

Top Drone pilot and contributor Brendon Dixon takes us on an Icelandic adventure like no other, flying over some of the country's most recognizable landmarks.  Treat yourself to bird's eye views of waterfalls, volcanoes, icebergs, geysers, fjords, fishing villages, and dazzling coastlines.  This video was chosen as a finalist for the AirVuz Drone Video of the Week Contest in April of 2018.  It was also voted as the winner in the Countries and Regions category for the second Annual Drone Video Awards.  

Check out this mesmerizing aerial film of Iceland's South Coast by drone pilot and former Drone Video Award Winner snorrithor.  Beautifully edited, the piece captures the other-worldly feel of this North Atlantic Ocean island, which was formed by volcanic activity on a massive ridge which connects the European and North American continents.  An infant in geological terms, Iceland's has some of the most unique topography.  This video was selected as a nominee in the Drone Video of the Week contest in August, 2020.

Award-winning drone pilot and director Mike Bishop creates aerial films that will blow your mind. "Awaken" Iceland is one of those films.  Shot with a DJI Phantom 4 drone, it has it all, from Landmannalaugar, deep within the highlands, to Thorsmork, the hidden Garden of Thor.  Here you can view Iceland's otherworldly landscape from the aurora borealis, to the cliffs and waterfalls.  It's all captured in this epic drone production by MikeBishop, which was the winner in the Countries category for the first annual DVA's.

Drone pilot Nazry Isa suggested that he kept his production simple to focus on Iceland's beauty, but the footage in this piece simply speaks for itself. AirVuz contributor and pilot DanieleCeravolo earned a spot as a Drone Video of the Week Finalist in late November, 202 for this excellent piece from Iceland.  The video was created with footage from a (gimbal-stabilized) DJI Mavic 3 drone as well as from a GoPro Hero 10 action camera mounted to a DJI FPV drone.  At about the :48 mark, you'll see the famous Dyrhólaey rock arch on the island's southern coast, and at the 1:55 mark you'll see the even more famous Kirkjufell hill/mountain on the (western) Snæfellsnes Peninsula.

Top AirVuz contributor and pilot snorrithor brings us this phenomenal DVOW nominated video from a hiking trip in the mountains of Iceland.  The video was filmed in the mountainous area around the Katla volcano, near the southern tip of Iceland.  The area here is covered by the Mýrdalsjökull glacier.  The ice cap covers about 600 square km (around 230 square mi.).  Mýrdalsjökull covers the volcano, which last erupted explosively in 1918 but which has had minor eruptions in the interim that didn't break through the ice cover.  

What would you do with four days in Iceland? The drone and traveler’s paradise has a plethora of amazing sites to check out. There’s the numerous gushing waterfalls like Skógafoss and Goðafoss, the famous black-sand beach Reynisfjara, wild Icelandic horses and hot springs, plus manmade structures like Hallgrimskirkja the Lutheran parish church in Reykjavík. Multiple Drone Video of the Week Winner haussmannvisuals brings us this stunning footage from Iceland's Geldingadalir volcano, which began erupting in March of 2021.  Released to coincide with the first anniversary of the eruption, the footage was captured ove the course of April, 2021.  It was filmed with three separate drones: a DJI Mavic Pro 2, a DJI Mavic Air 2, and the DJI FPV drone.   The volcano is located on the Reykjanes Peninsula near Reykjavik, an area that had not seen active volcanic eruptions for centuries.

He’s captured the black sand beach of Reynisfjara, a bounty of the island nation’s gushing waterfalls, Kirkjufell mountain (the most photographed mountain in the country), wild horses, snow-covered volcanos, and the brilliant green Northern Lights. Top contributor, drone pilot, and AirVūz Drone Video of the Week winner LukeMaximoBell traveled from his native Cape Town, South Africa to Iceland for an 11 day trip through the North Atlantic island nation.  The video features everything one could hope for in an Iceland drone video - glaciers, fjords, volcanic mountains, and monstrous waterfalls.  It even has room for some Icelandic horses, a nice touch for any Iceland video!   The aerial footage in the video was captured via a DJI Phantom 4 Pro drone.

Check out this outstanding drone video from the Highlands of Iceland, compliments of talented content creator and pilot _mishamartin.  The area filmed is called Kerlingarfjöll, which is a mountain range near the center of this North Atlantic island.  Located adjacent to the plateau of Kjölur, the mountains here reach a maximum elevation of around 4.85k ft. above sea level or just under 1.5k meters.  This video was picked as a Finalist for the Drone Video of the Week contest in early April of 2021.  

Prepared to be amazed by this magnificent 2020 drone reel from Iceland, compliments of AirVuz contributor _mishamartin.  The video opens with a shot from the top of a deep canyon, followed by a sequence flying over a mini-volcano looking towards two tiny satellite islands.  Then it's on to some coastal mountains, followed by a flyover of the famous Skógafoss waterfall.  Other highlights include a shot flying over an erupting geyser (at the 1:00 mark), some Icelandic wildlife (1:37), the semi-circular Godifoss waterfall (2:50), and more.

Former Drone Video of the Week Winner AndriThor brings us this absolutely magnificent drone video from magical Iceland.  Following a shot of a coastal mountain, you'll fly over the famous Fjaðrárgljúfur Canyon in the southeastern part of the country.  At about the :44 mark, you'll see the Reynisfjara Black Sand Beach, and at the 1:03 mark there's a magnificent shot of the waves of the North Atlantic pounding the shoreline.  Other shots will take you over some of the island's glaciers, waterfalls, and interior highlands.

For a first upload to AirVuz, brand-new contributor brendanbeale brings us this amazing drone video of Iceland's Jökulsárlón glacial lagoon, one of the natural treasures of this North Atlantic island nation.  The lagoon is located in the southeastern part of the country, on the edge of the Vatnajökull National Park.  Jökulsárlón has been the filming locations for many feature movies, including the James Bond films A View to a Kill (1985) and Die Another Day (2002), Batman Returns (2005), and Lara Croft: Tomb Raider (2001).

Top AirVuz contributor snorrithor, who has been a Finalist for the Drone Video of the Week contest and was a winner at the second annual Drone Video Awards, serves up another jaw-dropping video from the wondrous island of Iceland.  The video was shot over a volcanic mountain system called Thrihnukagigur (Þríhnúkagígur), which translates to Three Peaks Crater.  The now-dormant volcanic system is located Reykjanes, a peninsula that extends to the southwest from the national capital in Reykjavik.    

Top contributor and drone pilot Florian Ledoux created this beautiful aerial video of southern Iceland in the winter.  It covers some of the country's legendary black sand beaches as well as the  Eyjafjallajökull glacier.  Located near the town of Vik, close to the Iceland Ring Road, the Eyjafjallajökull became famous for a 2010 eruption which disrupted air traffic. Then, in 2015, it was seen by millions of Star Wars fans by appearing in the series installment, The Force Awakens.

Award-winning content creator and drone pilot snorrithor brings us this stunning aerial view of a volcanic eruption on the North Atlantic island nation of Iceland.   In mid-march, the Geldingadalur region began emitting molten rock.  It was believed to be the first such geological activity on the Reykjanes Peninsula (which extends off of the southwestern corner of the island) in 800 years.  Scientists believe that this may portend the long-anticipated beginning of a period of increased geological activity in this part of the island.  

Iceland's largest city and capital is Reykjavik, which lies in the southwestern part of the island.  It is a new city by European standards, founded in 1786.  The city is full of Scandinavian charm, and is also known as as a starting point for drives around Iceland's Ring Road, the national highway which is the main route to access most of Iceland's top sights.  Contributor BreathofIceland, one of Iceland's top drone pilots, used a DJI Mavic Air drone to create this amazing aerial tour of Iceland's capital city.

Talented content creator AndriThor has produced some of the world's finest drone videos of Iceland.  The former Drone Video of the Week Winner (and multi-time Finalist) strikes again with this fantastic piece from the North Atlantic island.  The video features a range of footage from across Iceland, one of the "youngest" and most geologically active areas on earth.   Ride along for some epic flights over yawning canyons, volcanic highlands, black sand beaches, endless lava fields, never-ending glaciers, and more.  

Top AirVuz contributor FreD ./. brings us this stunning drone video of one of the most iconic sites of Iceland: the abandoned wreck of a US Navy DC-3 airplane.  In 1973, the plane ran out of fuel and crashed on Sólheimasandur, a black sand beach on the island's southern coast.  While the plane's crew survived the ordeal, the wreckage was left in place.  It's not the easiest place to reach (or even find) - there are no nearby roads, and even the ruggedest 4WD vehicles can get stuck in the sand.   

In this drone video, top content creator and pilot Eaglewood Films explores the Icelandic Highlands in all its low-waving glory. Iceland has four major groups of highlands in the northern, southern, and central regions, and this aerial footage covers a range of their ethereal features.  Take an aerial hike through the enchanting highlands of this spectacular Nordic island nation, complete with ancient glaciers, hypnotizing aurora borealis, sleeping volcanos, and snow-capped peaks.

See Iceland in winter from the air in this cinematic and breathtaking video by drone pilot and new AirVūz contributor Joseph Young.  Joseph used his DJI Inspire drone to soar above the famous Skógafoss waterfall, one of the most famous waterfalls in a country which is known for them.  It's located near the southern tip of the island. The video features footage of the landscapes which have made Iceland famous: yawning canyons, gushing waterfalls, and expansive glacier fields.  This video was a DVOW nominee in September 2020. 

Reynisfjara is one of the most well known of Iceland's famed black sand beaches.  It's located near the town of Vik in the southern part of the island.  The beach and the basalt rock formations just offshore have caught the attention of TV and movie producers: the beach has appeared in HBO's Game of Thrones series and also in the Star Wars movie Rogue One (2016), in the latter case as Planet Eadu.  Check out the famous beach from above, compliments of top contributor and drone pilot Minglam.   

Contributor and drone pilot flyingbydaniel created this beautiful aerial video of Iceland's most famous mountain and "Game of Thrones" star: Kirkjufell.  Translated roughly to "Church Mountain", the mountain has a peak elevation of 1.45km meters or around 4.8k ft.  It's situated on the north coast of the Snæfellsnes Peninsula, west of Reykjavik.  Its highly symmetrical shape caught the attention of the producers of the hit HBO TV series; it appeared in Seasons 6 and 7 as "Arrowhead Mountain".    

If anyone should be the judge of the best hiking places to visit in the world, it could be HikeTheWorld. The Drone Video Awards nominee for the hike/running video “Runaway”, the team headed out to Iceland for their latest adventure. While there they specifically headed to the East fjords, a 75 miles stretch of coastline from Berufjördur to Borgarfjördur Eystri. The North Atlantic island nation of Iceland is known more than anything for its waterfalls.  A function of its mountainous interior combined with its prodigious rainfall/snowfall, it's blessed with some of the most spectacular and unusual waterfalls.  In this amazing drone video by boromdole, you'll be treated to aerial views of the following gems: Skógafos, Seljalandsfoss, Gljufrafoss, Svartifoss, Dettifoss, Litlanesfoss , Hengifoss, Dynjandi, Godafoss, Gullfoss, Bæjarfoss and Haifoss.

Lake Mývatn is one of the natural wonders of Iceland.  Located in the northern part of the island, the lake was created by a massive lava eruption about 2,300 years ago.  Seen here in this drone video by top AirVuz contributor FreD ./., the lake covers about 14 square mi. (about 37 square km) and has a maximum depth of only about 15 ft. (around 4-5 m).  Surrounded by lava pillars and other geological phenomena, the lake is home to a large number of birds (including 15 species of ducks) and other flora and fauna.  

Although Iceland has become an increasingly popular tourist destination, the majority of its most-visited sites are along its southern and eastern coastlines.  In this magnificent drone video by boromdole, you'll be treated to aerial views of a much less visited corner of the island: the Westfjords, a giant peninsula which extends off of the northwestern part of the island.  The video even includes footage of even more remote Hornstrandir, a sub-peninsula which runs off the northern side of the Westfjords.  

Top AirVuz contributor FreD ./. brings us this magnificent drone video of Iceland's famous Fjaðrárgljúfur Canyon.  Located in the southern part of the island, this canyon was formed by glaciation; the Fjaðrá River, which runs through its bottom, did not actually create it.  The 1.2 mi. long (two km) gorge has a maximum depth of about 330 ft. (100 m). Easily accessible from Iceland's Ring Road, Fjaðrárgljúfur Canyon was (famously) used to film a wildly popular music video by pop singer Justin Bieber.  

Former Drone Video of the Week winner DroneProduction.ru created this extremely creative piece from a trip to the North Atlantic nation of Iceland.  The video follows a beautifully worded narrative from the perspective of an Icelandic "princess" exploring this spectacularly beautiful land.  The video features footage from around the island, including the Westfjords Peninsula on the western side of Iceland, the volcanic craters around Lake Blahylur in a remote area of southern Iceland, and more.  

Iceland's Westfjords is a giant and remote peninsula off the island's northwestern coast.  It's cactus-like shape makes for dozens of fjords that take up almost its entire coastline.  Covering an enormous 22k+ square km or around 8.6k square its, its land area is comparable to the UK region of Wales - yet its population is a bit over 7k, roughly 2/3 of whom live in a single town (Ísafjörður).  Check out this desolate but beautiful region from above in this drone video by boromdole.

Contributor Alexander Schmidt Photography used a DJI Mavic Pro drone to create this marvelous and highly cinematic aerial tour of Iceland.  The video captures the intense natural beauty of this island, the product of volcanic activity on the floor of the North Atlantic which first appeared above the water's surface about 18 million years ago - an infant in geological terms.  Enjoy the aerial views of its volcanoes, fjords, geothermal springs - all of which are a function of its unique geology.

Former DVOW Finalist Chris Jeon brings us this magnificent video record of a 30 day trip to Iceland.  Created using drone footage supplemented with ground camera shots, the video's first aerial view (at the :15 mark) is of the Dyrhólaey rock arch near Vik, on the island's southern coastline.  Then you'll head to one of Iceland's black sand beaches, followed by a flyover of a glacial lagoon.  Other highlights include the Goðafoss waterfall in the northern part of the island (at the 1:07 mark), the famous DC-3 wreck (2:54), and more.   

Iceland is known for its incredible landscape, much of it that can be seen in this aerial film by AirVuz content creator and pilot alexgaflig. He’ll start off with shots of some of the many icebergs that float around the perimeter of the island, then fly over Reynisfjara, the world-famous black-sand beach on the South Coast of of this North Atlantic island. You’ll also see Fjaðrárgljúfur, the famous canyon in south east Iceland and Vatnajökull, the largest and most voluminous ice cap in the country. 

Check out this stunning drone video from the highlands of Iceland, compliments of contributor Ericbartolo.  The video was filmed in an area called Landmannalaugar (translated "Rainbow Mountains"), which is an upland area that's part of the Fjallabak Nature Reserve in the southern part of the island.  Known for its geothermal areas and the colors of the lava rock, Landmannalaugar is a popular spot for hiking as well as for Icelandic horseback riding.  Accessing the area generally requires a 4WD vehicle as the roads are unpaved. 

Top contributor FreD ./. brings us this magnificent drone video from the Vestmann Islands in Iceland.  Also known as the Vestmannaeyjar, this is a small archipelago which lies off Iceland's southern coast in the North Atlantic Ocean.  It consists of 15 (mostly uninhabited) islands and a somewhat larger number of sea stacks.  The islands are infants in geological terms, having been formed by volcanic eruptions in the last 10,000-12,000 years.  Most of the island's roughly 4,000 inhabitants live on Heimaey, the largest in the archipelago.  

For a second upload to AirVuz, new contributor brendanbeale brings us this stunning drone video of a mountainous region in Iceland called Thórsmörk.  Located near the southern end of the island, Thórsmörk is a ridge and the surrounding area which separates the Tindfjallajökull and Eyjafjallajökull volcanoes (both of which are capped by glaciers).  A relatively short drive from Reykjavik, Thórsmörk is popular with hikers, and generally features warmer temperatures than the surrounding areas by virtue of being a semi-protected valley.  

Visitors to Iceland wanting to see its geological wonders needn't go far: the giant mud geysers of Gunnuhver are just a few km/miles from the country's principal international airport.   Seen here in this outstanding drone video by Jasonkmclean, Iceland's largest geyser field is located near the western tip of Reykjanes, at peninsula which extends west of Reykjavik.  At about the :10 mark, there's a great shot of Reykjanes Lighthouse, which lies in the middle of the field and is Iceland's oldest lighthouse.  

Take in these stunning aerial views of Iceland's largest ice cap, compliments of top AirVuz contributor FreD.  The Vatnajökull Glacier covers a large portion of southeastern Iceland, accounting for about a twelfth of the island's overall land area.  Depending on definition, it's either the largest or second-largest ice cap in Europe.  Its average thickness is almost a quarter mile (1.25k ft. or about 380 m) and overlies numerous volcanoes.  It appeared in the opening sequence of the 1985 James Bond film, View to a Kill.  

Top contributor Eaglewood Pictures does it again with this stunning piece from Iceland.  The video was shot in some of the more remote spots on this North Atlantic island, well away from the increasingly familiar scenes along the coastal ring road.  Much of the footage is from the Westfjords, the oddly shaped peninsula which juts off the island's northwestern coast and which itself consists of many sub-peninsulas.   Some of the most amazing footage is around Hornstrandir, the northernmost of the Westfjords peninsulas.  

Due to its abundant rainfall, massive snowcaps, and unique geological features, Iceland is home to thousands of waterfalls, ranging from unnamed torrents flowing over highland cliffs to some of the biggest gushers in Europe.  In this beautiful drone video by top AirVuz contributor brendanbeale, you'll soar over some of these natural wonders, which can be found throughout this North Atlantic island nation.  The video was created with footage from a DJI Mavic Pro 3 as well as a DJI FPV drone.  

AirVuz contributor snorrithor was a Winner at the second annual Drone Video Awards in the Game of Thrones category, taking home the prize for a video shot within one of Iceland's ice caves.  The subject of this stunning piece is another one of Iceland's natural wonders: the glacial deltas along the southern coast of this Scandinavian island nation.  Fed by the giant glaciers which cover most of southern Iceland, the rivers which empty into the North Atlantic Ocean create colorful patterns, the beauty of which is best appreciated from above.

Multiple Drone Video of the Week Winner AndriThor brings us this fantastic drone video from Iceland.  The video opens with shots of the Gulfoss waterfall, one of the most powerful in Europe.  Other shots will take you over the island's famous black sand beaches, gaping canyons, endless highlands, fjords, volcanic lava fields, and more.  At about the 1:20 mark, there's a magnificent shot of Kirkjufell, the perfectly formed mountain on the western peninsula of Snæfellsnes, which appeared on the hit HBO series Game of Thrones.

The vast majority of Iceland's visitors arrive in the summer, when daylight can extend to nearly midnight.  Very few visit the island during the winter months, when the sun barely peaks above the horizon for a few hours.  Iceland winters are not without their charms though, as you'll see in this excellent piece by top contributor hamzamuj.  Shot with a DJI Mavic Pro 2 and supplemented with ground footage, the video features views of the Seljalandsfoss waterfall, the capital city Reyjkavik, and the Northern Lights.

AirVuz contributor and pilot Pavlo Glazkov created this beautiful drone video of three canyons on the North Atlantic island of Iceland.  The first is called Þakgil; it is situated near the coastal town of Vik, close to Iceland's southernmost point.   The second featured canyon is Fjaðrárgljúfur.  Located near the village of Kirkjubæjarklaustur a bit to the northeast of Vik, it's probably the country's best-known canyon.  The third spot is Stuðlagil, a canyon located in east-central Iceland which is far less accessible.  

For a first upload to AirVuz, new contributor and pilot Framefactory.at brings us this stunning drone video from a giant rock formation in Iceland called Valahnúkamöl.  It's a ridge at the tip of Reykjanes, the southernmost of the peninsulas which extend off the western coastline of this North Atlantic island nation.  Created by the powerful waves and winds here, Valahnúkamöl consists of a 420 meter long (about 1.4k ft.) rock ridge.  It's about an hour's drive west of Reykjavik.

Explore the Highlands of Iceland in this fantastic drone video by AirVuz contributor mikereidphotography.  The Highlands refers to the mountains and associated valleys which cover much of the interior of this North Atlantic island.  The video features footage from the Barmur Ridge and Landmannalaugar, both of which lie in the south-central part of the island, a bit to the east of Reykjavik.  This area is part of the Iceland's Fjallabak Nature Reserve, a popular destination for hikers and horseback riders.  

The eruption of the Iceland's Fagradalsfjall volcano at Geldingadalir in March of 2021 captured attention around the world, and geologists indicated that this event likely marked the start of what could be a long period of volcanic activity on the Reykjanes Peninsula (in the southwestern part of the country) following centuries of little activity.  These predictions appeared to be confirmed with the nearby Meradalir eruption in August, 2022.  Top AirVuz contributor brendanbeale was there to record the scene with this excellent drone video.  

Top AirVuz contributor and drone pilot FreD ./. brings us this excellent aerial video from Iceland's Þingvellir National Park.  Considered one of the natural treasures of this North Atlantic island nation, Þingvellir is located a shot drive northeast of the capital, Reykjavik.  Þingvellir is of considerable interest to geologists, as it marks the boundary between the Eurasian and North American tectonic plate systems.  The park was established in 1930, and since 2004 it's been designated a UNESCO World Heritage site.    

Top AirVuz contributor FreD ./. brings us this magnificent drone video of Iceland's Seljalandsfoss, one of the most well-known waterfalls on this North Atlantic Ocean island.  Due to its unique structure, Seljalandsfoss is one of the few falls which can be viewed from behind, in a partially enclosed cavern which lies under an overhang.  Situated on the  Seljalands River in the southern part of the country and easily accessible from Reykjavik, Seljalandsfoss has a single drop of 60 meters (197 ft.).   

Take a road trip through the wild expanses of Iceland in this fantastic drone video by new contributor JueNa.  The video opens with some dramatic views of the sea stacks of Reynisdrangar at Iceland's southern tip, followed by shots of the giant (nearby) Skogafoss waterfall.  At about the 1:00 mark, you'll see the Vatnajökull glacier, the island's largest ice sheet, and at 1:20 you'll see the erupting Fagradalsfjall volcano near Reykjavik.  Other highlights include the Fjadrargljufur Canyon (1:31), the Gulfoss waterfall (1:40), and more.    

Former Drone Video of the Week Finalist _mishamartin brings us this stunning drone video of a beach in a remote area of western Iceland.  Raudisandur Beach is located on the southern side of the Westfjords, a giant series of peninsulas that extends off of the northwestern part of this North Atlantic Ocean island.  For reasons which will be apparent when you see the video, Raudisandur is sometimes known as the Red Sands Beach.  The beach is roughly a 390 km (around 235 mi.) drive from Reykjavik along the island's western coast.    

Most travelers to Iceland confine themselves to spots along the Ring Road, a national highway which runs mostly along the coastline of the island's coastline.  While many of the country's most spectacular sights do lie close to the coasts, many do not.  In particular, the vast Highlands area, which covers much of the interior of the island, is not experienced by many Iceland travelers.  Take in these stunning aerial views of the Highlands in this fantastic piece by top contributor Jurgis Kreilis / FilmDay.

Check out these excellent drone views from southeastern Iceland, compliments of AirVuz contributor and pilot _mishamartin.  The video was filmed in the vicinity of the town of Hornafjörður, which lies on a fjord of the same name, just north of the more well-known town of Höfn.  You'll be treated to some excellent aerial views of the area's black sand beaches, as well as the glass-smooth and iceberg-dotted  waters of the fjord itself.  Much of the area is covered by the Vatnajökull, the largest and most voluminous of Iceland's icecaps.    

Pilot Fit Lam Studios recently had the opportunity to shoot a short film in Iceland. Although this isn’t that piece, this four-minute film is remarkable in its own right. The first minute alone features notable locations like Reynisfjara, the world-famous black-sand beach on Iceland’s south coast, Viking’s Sword Road, shots of wild horses running across the terrain, plenty of rotating shots over gushing waterfalls, even a couple of cameos by one of our favorite Norwegian pilots (hello, PilotViking!).
