Drone Videos of Paragliding

Fly along with paragliders around the world in this compilation video, which was created by DroneTV using some of the best footage from the "Drone Videos of Paragliding" collection on the AirVuz website.  Ride along for some thrilling flights over spots ranging from the Caucasus Mountains in southern Russia to the islands of Hawaii to Réunion Island in the Indian Ocean.  It's one of dozens of action sports-related videos which are available for licensing from the DroneTV library.  

The creative duo known as DigitalTravelCouple is one of the top contributors on AirVuz, with multiple Drone Video of the Week wins.  In this short but excellent piece, they use a drone to film themselves paragliding on the island of Madeira.  Part of Portugal, Madeira is located off the coast of northwestern Africa, in the North Atlantic Ocean.  The island's stunning coastal cliffs make for some epic paragliding, which is captured via a combination of drone and "ride" along camera and skillfully edited.  

Top contributor iDrone Aerials put his DJI Mavic Pro drone to good use creating this amazing aerial video shot of paragliders near Interlaken, Switzerland.  In doing so he not only captured the bright yellow and red paraglider colors but the spectacular beauty of the surrounding countryside.  Interlaken is a world-class resort and recreational area in the Bern Canton (one of the 26 cantons or provinces which make up the Swiss Federation).  The canton sits near the very center of Switzerland.  

This video will give you an aerial view of the Carpathian Mountains from a truly new perspective.  It follows a paraglider cruising about a beautiful mountainous section of Romania, which is home to about 50% of the area of the Carpathians range (the mountains also cover parts of Slovakia, Poland, Hungary, and Ukraine).  The video, by top AirVuz contributor and drone pilot contributor George Moldovan, follows the paraglider against the backdrop of the mountains, and mixes in a few shots taken from the paraglider itself.  

In this spectacular drone video by AirVuz contributor Serdar SEN, you'll follow a powered paraglider cruising through one of Turkey's largest cities.  He was able to film a VERY brave and obviously skilled pilot as he flew over and around the great port city of İzmir.  It's the country's third-largest city, after Istanbul and the capital city of Ankara.  Located on the Aegean Sea in western Turkey, İzmir is the home of the country's largest port.  As you'll see from the video, it's also developed a very modern-lookling skyline. 

Fethiye Babadağ is a beach town on Turkey's Mediterranean coastline.  With its steep cliffs, steady winds, and stunning scenery, it's no wonder that it's considered one of the world's best spots for paragliding, and has a special launching area just for that purpose.  In this video, contributor Dronesantana007 filmed a group of paragliders flying over the torquoise blue waters of the sea below.  The town gained some additional fame from its appearance in the 2012 James Bond movie Skyfall, #25 in the series.

Top AirVuz contributor Red-FPV is one of the top first person view (FPV) drone pilots in France.  His specialty is using racing drones to film epic scenes, particularly action sports.  In this video he tackles the sport of speed-paragliding.  That is, using a paraglider modified for speed and flying while wearing skis.  You have to see it to believe it, and those who know anything about FPV will appreciate how insanely difficult it is to keep a racing drone camera focused on this type of moving target.

While Peru may be known more for the Incan ruins of Machu Picchu, the Andes Mountains, and the Amazon Rainforest, it's also home to some great beaches on its western (Pacific Ocean) coastline.  Charca y Mar Beach is located up the coast from the capital city Lima.  It is, among other things, an ideal spot for paragliding - its beautiful sloping sand dunes provide a perfect launching point.  In this video, contributor Niels Ahmes used a drone to capture some of the epic flying action on the Peruvian coast.

The cliffs of Torrey Pines just north of downtown San Diego, California have long been one of the world's top spots for hang-gliding.  Not surprisingly, the area has become similarly popular with the (relatively) newer extreme sport of paragliding.  And what better way to watch paragliders plying these beautiful cliffs than with a first person view (FPV) racing drone?  Top AirVuz contributor and FPV pilot shows us the way with this fantastic piece, in which he expertly chases these skilled fliers and brings the sport into a new perspective.

Action sports have never looked better than they do when being filmed with an FPV quad. The intensity of what the athlete is doing feels all the more real when the viewer is able to experience the sport from the proximity only drones can provide. FPV pilot VerJan FPV is a phenomenal B.A.S.E. jumping cinematographer. The angles he shoots match his perfect speed to grab and focus in on his subject. Like any talented pilot, he makes it look too easy. 

Top content creator and drone pilot contributor Majestic created this stunning aerial tour of the Hawaiian island of Oahu.  Using a DJI Phantom 4 drone, he was able to capture some of the most epic sights of this, the most populous of the Hawaiian Islands.  Prepare to be amazed by the bird's eye views of some of Oahu's most well known sights, including he North Shore, Lanikai Beach, Kailua, front and back side of Moku Nui Island, Sandy Beach, Halona Cove, Rabbit Island, and Makapu'u Beach and Lookout. 

In this drone video by contributor and drone pilot Bogdan Sinayskiy, you'll follow a paraglider off the top of a mountain in Southern Russia. Paragliding is the adventure/extreme sport of flying a lightweight parachute "glider", usually down the slope of a mountain.   If you’ve never seen it from above, definitely give this short video by cinaysky a watch. The video was filmed near Krasnaya Polyana, a famed ski area in the heart of the Caucasus Mountains near the 2014 Winter Olympics host city of Sochi.   

The opening shots in this piece are probably some of the most insane paragliding moments we’ve ever seen via drone. The paragliders are flying down a small crevice in the mountains, gliding themselves seemingly easily through the tight gaps then out into the wide open spaces. The Norwegian mountain setting that the gap opens to is absolutely incredible. The content creator behind this epic piece is VerJan FPV, who earned himself a spot on the AirVuz FPV Pilots to Watch list in July of 2019.

If you want to see what powered paragliding looks like, check out this amazing drone video by fabio sauli.  Powered paragliding (sometimes called paramotoring) is an extreme sport that involves strapping on a back-mounted motor and attaching oneself to a paraglider.  Experienced pilots can reach speeds up of up 80 km/hr (around 50 mph) and altitudes of thousands of meters/feet.  He filmed a very brave pilot flying the skies over the Palentine Plains in the Abruzzo region of south-central Italy.  

Paragliding is definitely not for the faint of heart; mishaps that occur when soaring hundreds of feet in the air can easily be fatal.  For those not sufficiently deterred, there's "synchro" paragliding, where two paragliders join up and ride back to earth together.  And what better way to film this extreme of extreme sports than with a first persopn view (FPV) mini drone?  Top AirVuz contributor and FPV pilot Ivan Merino shows us the way in this incredible piece, filming a pair of VERY brave synchro paragliders high above the earth.
