Mountain Sunrise

bernatmore...

For a first upload to AirVuz, brand-new contributor bernatmoreno brings us this stunning drone video from the Pyrenees Mountains.  The video was shot with a DJI Air 2 at sunrise.  The Pyrenees Mountains serve as the natural boundary between France and Spain, and since the mid-17th century the main crest has served as the actual border between the two countries.  The mountains run on a generally west-east axis for a little over 300 mi (around 500 km) between the Cantabrian Mountains and the Mediterranean Sea.

Separating the Iberian Peninsula from the rest of Europe, a 491-kilometer (305 mile) stretch of mountains is known as the Pyrenees. The range stretches between Spain and France, rising over 3,400 meters (11,154 feet) making it a key destination for ski resorts and avid climbers and home to national parks. Pilot vasiliz lives in the mountains and is taking us through them via ground camera, camera drone, and FPV racing drone in this 4K video.

Former Drone Video of the Week Finalist davidpardo71 brings us this excellent drone video from the Pyrenees Mountains.  The mountains, which reach altitudes of up to just under 11.2k ft. above sea level (3.4k m), serve as the boundary between France and Spain.  They extend from the Cantabrian Mountains in the west for about 300 mi. (500 km) to the Mediterranean Sea in the east.  The video was filmed with a DJI Air 2S drone in Andorra, a tiny state which straddles the main crest of the eastern Pyrenees.

Ariege is a section of the Occitanie region in the southern part of France, near the border with Spain.  It is part of the mountainous Pyrennes region which straddles the two countries.  In this video, contributor Amaury Descours treats us to aerial views of some of the spectacular sites of the French Pyrennes, including Montsegur, Devil’s Bridge, and Roquefixade.  While the peaks of the Pyrenees are not as tall as the Alps, the lack for nothing in terms of sheer beauty and offer some of the best hiking spots in Europe.

The Pyrenees Mountains, by which the Iberian Peninsula attaches to the rest of mainland Europe, are not the Alps.  With a maximum altitude of about 3.4k meters above sea level (around 11.1k ft), even the highest peaks of this range are generally accessible by (physically fit) hikers.  Even in the snow, as top AirVuz contributor and pilot Karl Veca shows us in this great video of an epic hike in the Spanish Pyrenees.  It was created with a DJI Mavic Pro drone supplemented with GoPro ground footage.

The Pyrennes Mountains serve as the border between France and Spain, two of the world's first true nation-states.  While the Pyrenees peaks lack the altitude of the Alps, the region is nonetheless spectacular, with mountain peaks exceeding 3k meters above sea level (about 11k ft.), lush valleys, and spectacular rock formations.  Contributor LeVoyagedesKoumoul treats us to an aerial tour of the Néouvielle National Nature Reserve; it's in the Hautes-Pyrénées Department in the heart of the French Pyrénées.

Andorra is one of the least well known countries in Europe.  Technically known as the Principality of Andorra, the tiny nation sits in the heart of the Pyrenees, the mountain chain which forms the natural border between Spain and France.  Andorra has a land area covering less than 500 square km (about 180 square miles), making it smaller than many cities.  As you'll see in this drone video from contributor and pilot Karl Veca, what Andorra lacks in size it makes up for in spectacular mountain scenery.

Contributor Jonatan_Joy created this beautiful drone video of one of the highest peaks in the Pyrenees Mountains.  Monte Perdido is part of the national park of the same name in the province of Huesca, in the region of Aragon.  With a peak elevation of 3.35k meters (just over 11k ft.), it's the third highest mountain in the entire Pyrenees system.  While the mountain's peak is very close to the French border, access to it from France is very difficult due to the presence of some steep intervening mountains.

A Beautiful Hike in the South of France

LeVoyagede...

This drone video from the Pyrenees Mountains will demonstrate that "Mountains" in France does not always mean "Alps".  While the Pyrenees peaks lack the altitude of a Mont Blanc (the highest peak of the Alps), they are stunningly beautiful, perhaps all the more so for being less well known than the taller mountains to their northeast. In this piece, top AirVuz contributor and drone pilot LeVoyagedesKoumoul captures the graceful beauty of these mountains which separate France from Spain.

Pedraforca is one of the most well known sights in Spain's northeastern Catalonia region.  It's part of the Pyrenees Mountains, in an area sometimes called the "Pre-Pyrenees" which lies to the south of the tallest peaks.  The mountain's peak is about 2.5k meters (8.2k ft) above sea level.  It's so well known in part because it presents so prominently, with no other mountains directly connected to it.  Contributor Pepinair created this magnificent aerial video of the mountain using a DJI Mavic Pro drone.

While most people associate Spain's Catalonia with Barcelona and the Mediterranean Sea, the region is also blessed with stunning mountain scenery.  Catalonia is partially covered by the Pyrenees, the great range that separates Spain from France.  Other parts are covered by a line of foothills which run parallel to the Mediterranean coastline.  Contributor Hispadrone created this epic aerial video of Cerdanya, a Catalan sub-region that sits next to the tiny independent Pyrenees country Andorra.

Contributor Imagoo created this beautiful drone video of Les Corbières, a small mountain range in southwestern France.  The mountains are essentially foothills of the Pyrenees, which form the border between France and Spain.  The highest peak in the Les Corbières range has an elevation of just over 1.2k meters (just over 4k ft.) above sea level.  In contrast to the extensive foothills on the southern (Spanish) side of the Pyrenees, these are the only foothill mountains on the French side.

Between the black and white filters, the mirrored imaging effects, and smooth soaring you really will think you're in an imaginary land or walking on the moon when you watch this first-person view (FPV) mountain surfing video from the Pyrenees. This long-range flight by vasiliz rips down the mountainside and through the snow, using editing tricks like reverse, speed, and duplicity to his full advantage. It's an impressive piece that landed mini quad pilot vasiliz on our AirVuz FPV Pilots to Watch list in December of 2018.

AirVuz contributor Paco Ferrando brings us this excellent drone video of a well-known mountain in the Pyrenees Mountains.  It's called Mesa de los Tres Reyes, and its peak is located in the Chartered Community of Navarre, in the northern part of the country.  With a peak altitude of just under 8k ft. above sea level (just over 2.4k m), its name translates to the Table of the Three Kings.  This is in reference to the fact that the mountain once covered parts of three kingdoms: Navarre, Aragon, and the French kingdom of Béarn.
