How Can One Ship Carry 6,700 Cars? | Inside NOCC ATLANTIC

The first thing that strikes you about a car carrier is its shape.

From the outside, NOCC ATLANTIC looks almost like a massive floating wall. But behind that simple exterior is a completely different world.

Inside are multiple vehicle decks designed to carry thousands of cars across the ocean.

NOCC ATLANTIC is a large vehicle carrier with a capacity of 6,754 CEU, or roughly 6,700 standard car-equivalent units.

But how can one ship carry so many vehicles?

The answer lies in the way the entire vessel is designed around cargo efficiency.

Cars are driven aboard through large ramps and distributed across multiple enclosed decks. Some decks can be adjusted to provide additional vertical clearance, allowing the ship to accommodate different types of vehicles and other rolling cargo.

Using authentic drone footage, this documentary explores the engineering and design behind a ship that looks simple from the outside but functions like a giant multi-story parking structure at sea.

At approximately 200 meters long and 32 meters wide, NOCC ATLANTIC demonstrates how enormous cargo capacity can be contained within a remarkably compact exterior form.
